
2015 PMPC Officers took oath; Prepares anew for annual star awards for movies
The newly-elected officers and board of directors of the Philippine Movie Press Club (PMPC) formally took their oath of office on Thursday, February 26, 2015, at the Manila City Hall with Mayor Joseph Ejercito Estrada as Inducting Officer.
This year’s PMPC Board is composed of: Joe Barrameda (President), Mell Navarro (Vice President), Mildred Amistad Bacud (Secretary), Rodel Ocampo Fernando (Asst. Secretary), Jose “Boy” Romero (Treasurer), John Fontanilla (Asst. Treasurer), Ma. Lourdes Fabian (Auditor), Sandy Es Mariano and William Reyes (PRO’s),
The Board of Directors are composed of: Eric Borromeo, Roldan Castro, Leony Garcia, Fernan de Guzman, Rommel Placente and Veronica Samio
The PMPC, under the current leadership of Joe Barrameda, gears ahead for the various projects the club hopes to successfully undertake, starting with the annual Star Awards for Movies which will be held on Sunday at Solaire.
As in the past years, the awards show will honor the best achievements of artists and craftsmen of the Philippine movie industry. It is also expected that this year’s ceremonies will be as star-studded and glamour-filled, with the presence of this year’s popular entertainers and talented artists, as awards contenders.
This year’s contenders for the MOVIE ACTOR OF THE YEAR award are ROBERT AREVALO (Hari Ng Tondo), JOHN LLOYD CRUZ (The Trial), JOHN ESTRADA (Trophy Wife), ROBIN PADILLA (Bonifacio: Ang Unang Pangulo), PIOLO PASCUAL (Starting Over Again), DEREK RAMSAY (English Only, Please), and DENNIS TRILLO (The Janitor).
Meanwhile, vying to be the MOVIE ACTRESS OF THE YEAR are NORA AUNOR (Dementia), ANNE CURTIS (The Gifted), EUGENE DOMINGO (Mga Kuwentong Barbero [Barber’s Tale],) CHERIE GIL (Mana), TONI GONZAGA (Starting Over Again), AIKO MELENDEZ (Asintado), and JENNYLYN MERCADO (English Only, Please).
The 31st Star Awards for Movies, which will be held on March 8, 6pm at The Theater at Solaire, Entertainment City , Paranaque City, is a joint undertaking between the PMPC and Airtime Marketing, Inc., headed by Ms. Tessie Celestino-Howard.
