3 beauty queens head to head for Star Awards Best New Movie Actress trophy
MANILA–This coming Sunday, February 18, the Philippine Movie Press Club (PMPC) will name and recognize all best stars, best films, and best filmmakers via 34th Star Awards for Movies, Newport Performing Arts Theater, Resorts World.
Hosted by Judy Ann Santos, Kim Chiu, Xian Lim, Julia Barretto, Enchong Dee, with Iza Calzado, the 34th Star Awards for Movies named the three beauty queens Ms. Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach, Bb. Pilipinas 2016 Maxine Medina, and Mrs. Mother of the Universe 2017 Joyce Peñas Pilarsky as nominees for Best New Movie Actress.
Other nominees for Best New Movie Actress are Joanna Ampil (Ang Larawan), Mary Joy Apostol (Birdshot), Maymay Entrata (Loving In Tandem), Yen Santos (Northern Lights: A Journey To Love), Malona Sulatan (Tu Pug Imatuy), Jemina Sy (Bubog), and Adrienne Vergara (Bliss).
But for a first-timer Joyce Peñas Pilarsky, she is thankful as she gets the nomination for the Best New Movie Actress.
“I praise and thank God really I was nominated. I am so happy indeed. I heard more than 100 films were reviewed so thankful talaga ako.”
“New Generation Heroes” is Joyce’s first full-length film with veteran actress Anita Linda. She said that she is so blessed having that recognition for her first film and lucky to have worked with veteran actress.
Pia and Maxine are nominated, her thoughts
“Nominated ako together with Maxine and Pia. Nakakatuwa kasi nanalo kami pareho sa beauty contest. I’m Mrs. Mother of the Universe 2017, si Pia naman Miss Universe 2015, and Maxine for Bb Pilipinas.”
Hoping to win the award, Joyce is a successful businesswoman, fashion designer, philanthropist, and teacher. Behind her success, she never forgets helping other people. For her, what God has given her, has to share to those in need.
Lucky and blessed she is, the Mrs. Mother of the Universe 2017 and Star Awards nominee is set to do a collection for New Orleans Fashion Show. She also has an upcoming concert in Music Museum on April 7 with special guests and will fly to Germany for vacation.
