It seems as if the backs of the Blackwater Elite players had bulls-eyes painted on them because the Rain or Shine Elasto painters relentlessly attacked them the entire game. This led to the most lopsided loss in Blackwater’s short franchise history to the tune of 123-85.

Six Rain or Shine players posted double figures in scoring with import Wendell McKines and forward Jervy Cruz leading the barrage with 15 points each. Paul Lee, Jeff Chan, T.Y Tang, and Beau Belga scored 13, 12, 11, and 10 respectively. Jericho Cruz almost joined the group with nine markers. Indeed, this victory is a badly-needed one for the Elasto painters as they have garnered only their second victory in six games.

Rain or Shine used their open court wizardry and defensive prowess to post a 19-4 advantage in fast break points and a 20-4 advantage in points off turnovers. By claiming the biggest margin of victory in the PBA Governor’s Cup so far, coach Yeng Guiao hopes that this will turn the tide for his team.

Currently, Rain or Shine is in a logjam with the NLEX Road Warriors and the Purefoods Star Hotshots at the bottom end of the standings. If the elimination round ended today, they will not make it into the next round of competition as the bottom four teams will bid farewell. Thus, they have to register wins in the remaining outings to increase their chances of making the playoffs.

On the other hand, import Marcus Doubthit led the Blackwater Elite in scoring with 14 points. Raffy Reyes, Brian Faundo and Robby Celiz also registered 13, 10, and 10 points respectively.

The Elite is at the bottom of the standings with a 1-6 win-loss record.
