The Cultural Center of the Philippines, with support from Art Cube Gallery presents a solo exhibition by venue grantee Melvin Culaba on July 2, 2015, at the Pasilyo Vicente Manansala (2nd Floor Hallway Gallery). The exhibit runs until August 16, 2015.

Marker is a reference to signs affixed in places and edifices with historical or cultural significance. They serve as attestations to the distinguished, celebrated, or even infamous roles played by these structures in the birth, tribulations, and revelries of the Philippines. The narratives of distinction are customarily engraved in iron or mortar markers placed in birth places of illustrious patriots, shelters of acclaimed leaders, enduring dwellings of ancestors, revered buildings of institutions, and hallowed grounds of entombment of fallen heroes. Culaba is no stranger to the different markers distributed within the city of Manila, particularly in the areas of Quiapo, Binondo, and Divisoria. This exhibition is his way of commemorating these markers through painting, in light of current issues surrounding heritage structures in Manila.

Admission to the CCP galleries is free. Viewing hours are fromTuesday to Sunday,10am to 6pm.
