Angelica Panganiban, Buboy Villar received acting nominations in Guam International Film Festival

The commendable performances of Angelica Panganiban and Buboy Villar garnered nominations at the 5th Guam International Film Festival.

Panganiban is nominated for the Achievement in Acting category for her performance as the heartbroken Mace in the critically-acclaimed movie “That Thing Called Tadhana”. Meanwhile, Villar got the nod in the same category for his performance as the young Manny Pacquiao in “Kid Kulafu.” The Guam International Film Festival will be held from September 26-30, 2015.

On the other hand, “That Thing Called Tadhana” is also scheduled for an international screening on September 26. The film’s director, Antoinette Jadaone, is also nominated by the Guam IFF Grand Jury for the Best Narrative Feature category. The film revolves around Mace and Anthony who met by chance at an airport and shared their joys and heartaches since. Despite a budget of just Php 2 Million, its commercial ticket sales amounted to over Php 130 million.

On the other hand, Kid Kulafu is directed by Paul Soriano (Toni Gonzaga’s husband) and is co-produced by Ten17 Productions and Star Cinema. The film revolves around the days when Manny Pacquiao was still a struggling boxer who held several odd jobs to make ends meet. With a Php 10 Million budget, Kid Kulafu garnered over Php 80 Million at the box office.
