Kris Aquino’s advice on mistresses: “Just don’t get into it. You’ll never be happy if you’re only somebody’s option.”

Marami raw natutunan ang Queen of All Media at TV host na si Kris Aquino nang gawin niya ang pelikulang “Etiquette for Mistresses.” Noong umpisa daw ay nagdalawang isip siya kung tatanggapin niya ang offer na maging isang mistress sa pelikula. “I had to consider my endorsements. Kasi may mga clause iyan eh. But I’m glad that they understood and this [Etiquette for Mistresses] is the kind of movie I am most proud of,” bulalas ni Kris sa naging panayam ng Philippine Showbiz Republic (PSR.ph) kamakailan lang.
“It’s easy to embrace my role in the movie because I have four other women with me. Kasama ko pa si Kimmy [Kim Chiu] whom I am close to, so alam kong bongga itong movie na ito from the start. And besides, Direk Chito Rono is helming this. It’s also based from the best-selling book of Ms. Julie Yap-Daza, so what more can you ask for?,” dagdag ni Kris.
Ayon pa kay Kris, the movie’s not another ‘kabit’ type of film. They highlight more on the lives of different women and hindi doon sa mga lalaking involved sa kanila sa nasabing pelikula.
Kung tatanungin nga si Kris, very proud ito sa pelikulang ito. Masasabi nga raw niya na ito ang kanyang defining moment as an actress. “May ilang eksena dito na talagang tatatak sa pagkatao mo. Napaiyak namin yung staff and crew ng Star Cinema sa ilang eksena namin ni Claudine at meron din na instances kung saan nagpalakpakan naman silang lahat after we had our take naman ni Kim. I mean, ito yung mga tao na sanay na sanay na gumawa ng mga heartwarming na eksena sa tagal nila dito sa industriya. And it feels good to be able to say that we were able to do each scene effectively,” pagmamalaki pa ni Kris.
Bilang isang lover sa tunay na buhay, anong klase ba magmahal ang isang Kris Aquino?
“Naku ha, Boy [Abunda] always says, and I believe him too, that I am crazy to a fault. I’m crazy loyal sa sinuman na mahalin ko. Eventually kasi after long years of marriage, it turns into companionship na lang. So ganun ako,” pahayag ni Kris.
“Masarap magmahal at mahalin. Pero we’re the only ones left with no divorce. In this country, it’s expensive, bloody and messy to have your marriages annulled.”
What can you advice women na pumapayag na maging mistress?
“Just don’t. To anybody who choose to love, love with open eyes. Go in it with open eyes. Huwag magbulagbulagan because in the end, ikaw yung magiging talo. You can choose to be the only choice, why settle to become just an option? Real love isn’t just an illusion gaya ng usual case with mistresses. You’ll never be happy if you’re just an option, you have to be the only choice.”
