Ateneo forward John Apacible made a public apology on Tuesday regarding the road incident on Sunday where he got too furious while drunk, in which a video made rounds online.
In a copy of the letter posted in Ateneo De Manila University’s Facebook page, Apacible said that he regretted his actions during the said road rage.
“Alam ko pong ako ay nagkamali, at dahil dito, sobra po akong nahihiya sa aking pamilya, team, school, at sa lahat ng naapektuhan nito,” said the sophomore.
He also admitted of being selfish and irresponsible during the incident. “Inisip ko lang ang aking sarili at nakalimutan ko ang aking mga responsibilidad,” Apacible’s apology continued.
“Handa po akong tanggapin ang anumang maaaring kalabasan ng aking pagkakamali,” concluded the former Hope Christian standout who was already suspended by the Blue Eagles for the rest of the elimination round.
The Ateneo Blue Eagles issued a statement confirming that men’s basketball team member John Apacible was the man who was on an outrage in the said video.

However, Athletic Director Emmanuel Fernandez clarified that Apacible, a sophomore forward who is the son of the late actor of the same name, had already apologized “to all parties concerned.”
Despite the apology, Fernandez further clarified that the team management and the university itself “will deal with this regrettable incident appropriately and swiftly.”
