Nov 24, 2015

PRESS RELEASE :

arielGlobal City Innovative College (GIC) announced television’s most innovative programs and personalities through Illumine, the 1st GIC Innovation Awards for TV. The nominees were generated based on the deliberation of the members of the Events Management Class which was the proponent and organizer of the search through the guidance of their adviser, Prof. Jayson Bergania.

Held at the GIC campus recently, the event’s objective was to recognize programs and personalities on television that reflect GIC’s definition of “innovation” which is “change that creates a new dimension of performance”.

“Innovation is an essential and critical element in the world today. Imagine watching the same show over and over again, with the plot remaining the same, the set unchanged and the story without any twists. The need for innovation is not limited to just television, it’s more needed in education,” pointed out GIC President Engr. Michael Tan in his opening remarks.

Since its establishment in 2002, GIC has strived to offer a curricula enriched with timeless skills and real life learning. “Projects such as the GIC Awards for Television give the students a chance to apply the theories discussed in class. In GIC, we make a lot of room for “collaboratory work” and industry practice. We encourage independence and build the students’ confidence by exposing them to what’s out there,” explained Bergania.

“I am properly impressed, magaling itong skwelahan na ito,” commented Ariel Ureta onstage when he received the Most Innovative Morning TV ryzza1Program Award with headwriter, Hener Chiu for Umagang Kay Ganda. “Sabi nga nila yung big bang started with something smaller than an atom and became the whole universe. You know, if an idea is good, it doesn’t have to start big, it just has to start correct! And you are on the right path,” he told the beaming crowd of students.

“I’d like to congratulate GIC for coming up with your own groundbreaking awards here ryzza3tonight… We will continue to look for programs and produce content that will inspire, empower and resonate with our viewers as we also innovate our platforms,” promised Kane Errol Choa of ABS CBN’s Corporate Communications office when he accepted the plaque and trophy for Most Innovative TV Network.
