NYC’s new chairperson is Aiza Seguerra
President Rodrigo Duterte appointed the singer and actor Aiza Seguerra as the new chairperson and CEO of National Youth Commission (NYC).
The National Youth Commission is a government agency in the Philippines that addresses the issues surrounding the Filipino Youth, helps them to be more aware and provides them with opportunities in nation building.
Earl Saavedra, the NYC assistant secretary announced the appointment of the singer during its celebration of International Youth Day, August 12.
On his part, Saavedra said that he formally announced to everyone the appointment of the new chairperson of NYC Cariza Yamson Seguerra (Aiza Seguerra) and welcomed her as the new member of the NYC family.
During the campaign, Aiza Seguerra together with her partner Liza Diño has been very supportive to President Duterte. They showed support to the President all throughout the campaign from posting to social media up to encouraging people to vote for President Duterte.
In her previous post, Seguerra expressed that it would be helpful for President Duterte if we respect each other’s opinion instead of hating one’s opposite opinion.
The singer has been very vocal when it comes to her advocacies as an artist. She has also helped the Lumads or the indigenous community in Surigao del Sur.
Gio Tiongson who was the former NYC chairperson from 2014 to 2016 expressed her support to Seguerra.
Saavedra said that everyone should joined force in nation building and everyone has their own contribution in achieving the goals for the country, for the youth.
It’s time for the singer Aiza Seguerra to continue her advocacies in achieving what’s best for the youth. Before, Seguerra writes song that inspires and moves people, today is definitely her time to inspire, be inspired, to move, and be moved through her humble hopes for the youth.
