TEN YEARS is ten years!

And most artists would want to celebrate such a milestone with either a grand album launch or a concert to boot!

But Pop Rock Nike Huarache Soldes Superstar Yeng Constantino wanted something more special to set herself apart from the rest.

“Noon kasi, nababanggit na ng manager ko in Cornerstone Entertainment na si Erickson Raymundo na pagdating ng ten years ko in the business, Chaussures Puma France kelangan may special show kaming gawin. Ako naman, oo lang kasi matagal pa naman. Pero eto na siya now.”

“Ang naisip niya na gawin namin is a musical. He came up with the idea of doing “Ako Si Josephine” where ang mga kanta ko ang ipi-feature. Na-inspire siya sa “Rak of Aegis” ng PETA. Na naging paborito rin namin ng husband ko na si Yan. After watching that nung una kami nakanood, niyaya niya ako to have coffee and that’s when he proposed to me.”

Yet, if she would be asked to star in a musical, there is so much hesitation from the singer-Nike Cortez France songwriter.

“I know nakaka-arte naman ako. Nakalabas na ako in an indie movie. But to act and sing at the same time in a musical of this magnitiude, I want to participate pero behind the scenes lang. Alam ko na there’s so much I have to learn pa.”

“Nagustuhan ko ‘yung plano ni Erickson. So, sinulat na siya ni Liza Magtoto and no less than Maribel Legarda ang madi-direct nito. With Jon Santos, Ricci Chan, Joaquin Valdez and Via Antonio (Maronne Cruz as alternate) in the lead. It’s a love story na may drama and comedy. The story has nothing to do with me or my story. Tinahi-tahi lang ang mga kanta sa story. Where ang musical director is Myke Solomon. So I really feel so honored.”

“Kaya naiyak ako Puma Suede Pas Cher kanina kasi first time ko nakita itong inihanda nila para sa press. Hindi ko maintindihan ‘yung pakiramdam. I was not sure kasi kung ganon na ba karami ang kanta ko para magamit lahat sa musical. Mga 24 songs ‘ata ‘yung gagamitin nila. Ako kasi ‘yung kapag may ginagawa like kanta, umaaakma na lang sa dulo ‘yung mas tamang intension. Like sa bandang huli na lang lalabas na may inspiration palang kakambal. Like what happened to “Hawak-Kamay.”

A Adidas Gazelle Pas Cher believer that it is really God who orchestrates everything, Yeng and husband Yan are of the belief that the blessing of a baby will come when it is time.

“Happy lang ako na sobrang supportive sa akin ng husband ko. Kaya ang wish ko sa lahat ng babaeng magkakaroon ng asawa eh, gaya ng sa akin.”

As the PETA team welcomed Yeng, her doubts were erased. 

As Jon sang, “Fairytales can come true it can happen to you…if you’re Yeng (young) at heart.” Oh, yes hindi na raw niya uulitin ang joke!”

“Ako Si Josephine” – A Musical Featuring the Music of Yeng Constantino will have its first run from September 8 to October 9, 2016 at the PETA Theater Center in New Manila’s Sunnyside Drive. Produced by Cornerstone Entertainment, ABS-CBN Events and a production of PETA.

TEN years is ten years! A unique artist like Yeng deserves a musical like this to mark her journey in the industry.

Josephine’s story is set in a music empire where love songs are banned. But when top composer Josephine falls in love with her boss Chinito (Joaquin) and he with her, they can’t keep from setting their feelings for each other to music. They want to release all the songs they wrote together, but the empire’s despotic ruler Puma Ignite France Monotomia (Jon/Ricci) only allows HYP or Happy, Youthful, Purposeful music to be broadcast throughout the land.

Josephine’s journey towards fighting for her right to share the music of her heart with the people she loves.
