Gee Canlas shares her experiences in showbiz
The name rings a bell. And has been a byword for the longest time when she became part of ABS-CBN’s Music UpLate.
With her kilometric lines and being a speed talker, Gee Canlas was able to capture an audience in awe not just of her kilo metric lines but her wit and wisdom to talk about a topic and at times just an object for a solid 30 seconds to a minute and even more performance.
And she is constantly evolving!
“It was on TV5 na una kong ginawa ang ‘speed talking’ ko in an online show. Hanggang nakasama ako sa “Loco Moco High” where may segment din ako. But apart from that, I was also a hip-hop dancer with the Philippine All Stars.
“Mga two years din ‘yun. And ang naging next big thing sa akin was when I joined the first Amazing Race (where we came in fourth), hosted by Derek Ramsay sa TV5. Yan ang mga ginawa ko before ako napunta sa ABS-CBN for Music Uplate and Pilipinas Win na Win.”
Gee has had her share of doing the acting bit as well.
“My first film was with Star Cinema, ‘yung One More Chance as the girlfriend of Janus del Prado na nag-suicide. Then nag-Regal din ako in Resureksyon na nakasabay din ang movie na kasama rin ako, sa The Trial. Nakasalang din ako sa.SRR:13 sa Babaeng Ahas episode.”
Though most of the roles being given to her were that of a best friend, a sister, cousin and a bit of a “kontrabida,” Gee’s acting prowess was mentored by a Gina Alajar and a Stella Adler in the workshops she painstakingly took
“I am the type nga siguro na kung sa parang normal na ikot ng life eh, parang ADHD o hilong talilong. Kasi, hindi ako mapirmi. Gusto ko I am always doing something. And I make sure that I give my best.
“The speed talking came to me in my early childhood. Parang laru-laro lang naman. And I thought naman that time na everyone naman is capable of doing it. So, when I was a part na of Philippine All Stars, may ginawa kaming sagutan ng isang kasama ko dun na parang contest sa pabilisan ng masasabi about adobo. So doon na ako napansin. So, kung kelangan naman I still do it. And use it.
“So when the acting bug bit me, hindi rin Doudoune Stone Island Soldes pinakawalan. Kaya from TV5 to ABS-CBN, I am back na naman din sa GMA-7. I look at it as one amazing journey. Being given the chance to work with the best people in the industry as well. So now, I am part of Sinungaling Mong Puso and A1 Ko Sa ‘Yo. One is all out comedy. Yung isa may drama.”
How about the sexy bit?
“I may be dressing up na medyo sexy. But meron pa ring limitations o level ng hanggangan kung hanggang saan lang keri. Yeas,.I’m a born-again Christian and I go the Victory Fellowship community. My pagpapa-sexy is not along Rufa Mae Quinto’s pagpapa-sexy. Hindi sobrang pa-sexy ang peg. Mala-Emma Stone lang. Oh, I really love her! I watch “Saturday Night Live”. Mga ganon. Parang Tina Fey din. So, sa first episode naman ng “A1″, I was required to wear a bikini. Pero may tapis naman na towel. Kasi kung nasa pool naman ang eksena alangan naman hindi mo gawin.”
Crossing multi-media platforms is also risky. Right?
“Let’s just say that we are all going to transform into variants of Polo Manche Longue Stone Island Homme ourselves we no more perceive or appreciate. It’s about being genuine and legit with yourself and everybody around you. It’s about uncovering each bone of those minor things that you make so novel. Those things that will characterize you and make you wonderful and complex. No one can ever steal your quirks. People look up to me not only as a celebrity who puts on her make-up and entertain. The best thing being here in showbiz is that I get to show them how being different, being edgy can take me to places I never dreamed possible, but now a reality. Looking back at the start of my career, it has been an amazing journey till now, and I’m very grateful for all the blessings.”
You think it just stopped there? Hosting. Acting. Dancing. Also Singing? Geen can’t get enough of herself that in social media, she’s been sharing her online show, GEE TV as another platform where she pokes fun at relevant issues and social trends.
And there’s her Molten Kitchen business where she makes giant cookies and molten lava cakes she Chemise Stone Island Homme Soldes supplies in supermarkets and restaurants in the metropolis.
“Here sa The Molten Kitchen, may bakers naman kami but I am using my Lola’s recipes na since 12 years old pa lang ako nalaman at napag-aralan ko na. So we have the now famous cookiezzas. Cookies na ‘sing laki ng pizzas.
“I am an AB Comm Arts graduate na mahilig din lang sigurong magluto sa Stone Island Manteau Soldes kitchen and I have a very sweet tooth kaya I love making different concoctions ng flavors nito. There’s a variety of chocolates and toppings.”
And just like her yummy cookies, offers to do more indie movies keep knocking at Gee’s door.
“I was part of an award-winning indie film, Sana Dati. But my first indie was with Marible Legarda’s Melodrama Negra.”
Loking fab and fit, but has to think not just once nor twice to land on the cover of a man’s magazine, Gee is an obedient Stone Island Homme Soldes artist to her new manager Olive de Jesus.
“If I have done the round of all the TV networks, ganon din sa managers. No, walang away ‘yun. Marami lang akong gustong gawin. Kaya lagi sinasabi sa akin ni Mama Olive (of Veda Artist Management handling Valeen Montenegro, Tuesday Vargas and Mr. Fu to name a few), like when masakit ulo o ngipin ko and I don’t wanna stop working, ‘tao ka rin lang ‘di ba’? Ayoko kasi natitigil o natetengga!”
The loves of her life?
“Zero now. Pero matatagal naman ‘yung dalawang dumaan. Sa kin na lang kasi nasa Pull Stone Island Homme Soldes showniz noon. Hahaha! So now, parang back na lang muna sa dating stage. Parang I’ve seen them all na rin naman as far as manliligaw is concerned. Pero hindi naman ako pahirap. If I don’t see anything naman na may pupuntahan, stop na.
“As a lover naman sobra rin akong caring. I will go out of my way para ipag-bake pa kita. Yung talagang magiging very much appreciated niya ako.”
