“As his son, I will continue The Master Showman’s Legacy” – Federico Moreno

The first day of Under Armour Stephen Curry Basketball December is always a memorable event as far as the late Master Showman German ‘Kuya Germs‘ Moreno is concerned.

Usually, he was the first to hold a Christmas party for the entertainment press as his way of giving thanks. And when he initiated the Walk of Fame in Eastwood City 10 years ago, in 2005, all he wanted to do was for the local entertainment world to have its own kind of Hollywood’s Walk of Fame.

And on the first day of December today 2016, it is his only son Federico Moreno who has been passed the torch to continue the legacy of his Papa.

In his speech, where Federico said that just like his Papa who has been known to be a giver of long talks, “Nagmana ako sa kanya. But I will not keep you waiting for the 15 celebrities to be inducted from the six different categories. I just would like to thank our new board of trustees for the trust and helping me with selecting our inductees. Most of which were already handpicked by my Papa personally.

The event at the Eastwood City Walk was witnessed by groups of fan who cheered for their idols. Hosted by Jackielou Blanco and John Nite and directed by Val Balenciaga Villafuerte.

As of 2015 there were a total of 306 names on record from the six categories- TV, Film, Music, Radio, Theatre, Sports and now, News and Public Affairs.

The inductees were Liza Soberano, Jennylyn Mercado, John Arcilla for Movies; Angelica Panganiban, Jodi Sta. Maria, Shaina Magdayao and Barbie Forteza for TV; Luchie Cruz Valdez, Susan Enriquez and Ted Failon for News and Current Affairs; Eddie Ilarde and Manolo Favis for radio; Willy Cruz and Joey ‘Pepe‘ Smith for music; and a posthumous award for Zeneida Amador for her work in the theater.

Present to help Federico award the plaques to the inductees were Kevin Tan, Chairman of Under Armour Stephen Curry Contract Megaworld, Alice Eduardo whom Kuya Germs’ considers his fairy godmother in all his endeavors, Cecilio Pedro, Kuya Germs’ compadre, Joey Abacan, who has Barbour Jacka Billigt become the Master Showman’s confidante for a long while. Also a staunch supporter who was not able to attend is former Manila Vice-Mayor Isko Moreno who himself was a product of Kuya Germs’ “That’s Entertainment“.

Federico was very happy with the turnout of the inductees who gathered first at Hotel richmonde and were brought to the venue by a limosine.

A special part of the program was dedicated to the Master Showman but the VTR stopped after some minutes. It was played again after the awarding and the inductees posing beside their walk of fame markers. Val said that the VTR was okay because they played it several times earlier.

Federico and his family will leave for the US to spend Christmas and New Year there.

Doon na rin kami magbababang-luksa. Since most of our relatives are there, it will be a great time to bond and reunite and balikan ang memories ni Papa. I wholehearted it accepted this task when people kept asking me kung ano na ang mangyayari sa Walk of Fame. And this is the answer. I will continue my Papa’s legacy. Alam ko na mahirap sa una and marami pa ring kelangang gawin. It is such an Moncler Dunjacka Dam Rea arduous task. Thanks to the Board and my staff for their partnership and support.

The first of its kindnin the country, it was patterned after the Hollywood Walk of Fame by Kuya Germs when at first no one wanted to believe in his vision.

Each inductee went home with a plaque and are honored and immortalized in a 5-point brass star in granite block at the Eastwood City Central Plaza and City Walk 1 and 2.

For their contributions to the growth of the local entertainment industry, it is but fitting to honor them with something that people will remember them by. An evening in December to remember!
