Aiza Seguerra clears issue; apologizes to Senator Tito Sotto
National Youth Commission chairperson Aiza Seguerra and Sen. Tito Sotto have cleared things up after strong, different beliefs on the government’s plan to distribute condoms in high schools.
According to the senator, Seguerra has reached and texted him to apologize for the misunderstanding.
Sotto also shared:
“Una, nagkaroon ng miscommuniation siguro. Siguro mali ang intindi sa pronouncements na lumabas sa social media so that’s what the reaction Aiza gave.”
Sotto added:
“She texted me. She apologized for her statement and for calling me out and she now understands that [she] should concentrate on the issue, not on the personality.”
Sotto also said that they are okay and no hard feelings.
Seguerra reacted on the statement of Sen. Sotto wherein the senator opposed the plan on giving condoms.
The National Youth Commission chair cited that there is increasing number of HIV cases in our country so the government should support a project like condom distribution to youth.
“We have an epidemic here, a youth epidemic. It is precisely because of this ‘sentiment of a conservative culture’ kaya lalong pataas ng pataas ang HIV,” Seguerra explained.
