Gloria Diaz calls Maxine Medina a “saling pusa”
Miss Universe 1969 and the first Filipina to win the crown shared her thoughts on Maxine Medina’s chance of winning.
Gloria Diaz has been very vocal about the 65th Miss Universe.
She got the chance to meet the candidates during the pageant’s events.
Diaz directly shared her top favorites. They were Miss Canada, Miss Venezuela, Miss Thailand, Miss China and Miss Domican Republic.
She also believed that Medina could win but for runner up and said that she would only be a “saling pusa.”
In an interview with Karen Davila, Diaz explained:
“She cannot nga be the winner. She can be first runner-up. I hope I’m proven wrong for the first time in my life. I want her to win. I want us to be so proud, but you know, that’s life.”
“We are the host. The host country cannot [win]. I cannot serve lechon and bring it back to my kitchen kasi I’m giving it to you.”
