On Ground: Rash to make his own sound

Feb 24, 2017

With charm, personality and talent, PSR welcomes Rash as he tells his journey and story.

Rash begins his career under boy group called “Seven Tones” which composes of seven young hopeful male singers but as saying goes “no permanent thing in this world” the group turns plain, decides to part ways.

He recalls pushing himself, non-stop practicing to step the same spotlight as his idols. He always tells PSR that he is doing all his best to be that big someday.

“Before ako magperform, nagp-pray ako kay Lord para iguide nya na maging best yung performance and practice lang talaga to get in in the industry.”

Luckily, his pop-ballad-esque-acoustic voice combines with his charm and personality attracts audience and the music industry. He charms stage with that voice and captures us with his humbleness and attitude.

Like what many names in the industry say, a secret to success is discipline and attitude. Direk Olivia Lamasan who always says 10% talent and 90% attitude which I think Rash gets, more than his talent is his attitude.

“Parating nireremind ng parents ko na be nice to others and ‘wag papatol sa bashers.”

Tags with his name is Mr. Ace David, editor-in-chief and publisher of PSR, who helps him in becoming the artist he wants to be. Mr. David always reminds him to listen, to be himself, to know his brand as a singer, to sing from the heart and to perform with all his best.

“Si Sir Ace talaga parati rin akong nireremind nyan na i-avoid yung bawal and practice lang ng practice and sya talaga yung nag-aayos ng career ko ngayon.”

Year 2017 seems so good to Rash because buckets of guestings waiting for him. GMA’s AHA which is hosted by Drew Arellano stars him to act in one of the segments, radio shows invites him, corporate shows also invites him, mall tours in.

Music has always been Rash’s priority.

He keeps singing and believing that success touches those people who work hard.

As a matter of fact, he experiences recording with one of the country’s top sound engineers Mr. Nikki Cunanan. Nikki works with country’s top singers like Gary Valenciano, Ariel Rivera, Renz Verano, Janno Gibbs, Christian Bautista, Zia Quizon and many.

For Rash, to experience recording with the one and only Nikki Cunanan is such a fulfilling and flattering experience.

Rash records jingle for one remittance company which caters remittance services both here in the Philippines and Palau.

Mr. Nikki Cunanan teaches Rash basic reminders in recording.

NIKKI TO RASH.

“In everything you do, dapat lagi kang handa. Memorize the lyrics and learn it. Kapag memorize mo na sya, then it follows na lahat.”

“Sing it as if you’re speaking it.”

“Sing it with your heart. Parating nasa puso dapat ang pagkanta.”

“Loosen up. Relax yourself. Wag kang ma-conscious.”

“Emphasize important words.”

“Don’t think, just sing. Wag mong iisipin kung anong susunod basta tuloy tuloy lang.”

“Discipline is important.”

“Smile when you’re singing. Nagiging bright yung tunog kapag nag-i-smile ka.”

RASH TO HIS FANS.

The time when you thank your fans, that’s the time you claim your success, whether a bigtime success or a smalltime success. What important is not how you measure your success but how you thank people behind your success. This is what Rash doing.

He never stops thanking all his fans for the unmeasurable support. For Rash, he is not Rash today if not because of his fans and followers.

ON HIS LEARNINGS.

Artists grow and evolve, artists elevate, artists achieve success because of all the learnings that they have.

Rash ends the conversation by expressing how lucky he is right now because Mr. David gives him so many opportunities. And all his fans who believe in him.

“Marami akong natutunan. Nagkaron ako ng tiwala sa sarili ko. Nandyan ‘yung mga taong sumusuporta sakin. Ayan, hindi ko ine-expect na makakasama si Sir Nikki syempre sa tulong ni Sir Ace. Mas gagalingan ko pa. Ang goal ko is makilala talaga.”
