Doing a comedy poses a big challenge for Primera Aktresa Lovi Poe because it something new for her.

“First time ko kasing gumawa ng comedy kasi nasanay ako sa drama. At sobra kong na-enjoy ang experience ko,” she said.

She said it was a wonderful experience for her working with Vhong Navarro in a comedy although this was not her first with the ace comedian.

“Nag-work na kami sa isang episode ng “Shake, Rattle and Roll” about alien abduction pero hindi kami naging close noon,” she recounted.

According to the award-winning actress known for drama as her forte, she learned a lot from Vhong in terms of comic acting.

“Marami akong natutunan kay Vhong, hindi lang sa comic timing, sa adlibs o sa pagbibitiw ng punchlines. Natutunan ko rin na I just have to relax and have fun and be a little bit bigger when you act kasi sa comedy, kailangang minsan may nae-exags lalo na kung may ini-emphasize ka. But above all, I learned to have fun with what I’m doing otherwise kung relax ka nga while acting pero hindi ka naman nag-e-enjoy, it will show on you na parang pilit dahil makikita iyon sa mga mata mo. So, doing it with sincerity is very important,” she quipped.

Lovi plays the role of Sabrina, a model whose life turns upside down when she suddenly wakes up one morning assuming the body of virile Nando, king of the hardcourt.

As a woman trapped in a man’s body as a result of the identity switch, Lovi had to project her imagined masculine side.

In essaying her role, she confided that bonding with Vhong was such a great help.

“Kinunsulta ko siya. Ang pinaka-importante kasi ay nag-uusap kami ni Vhong. Kailangan naming mag-collaborate kasi baka naman sobrang exags naman sa porma o sa iaarte ko so may mga time na pumupunta talaga ako sa set para bantayan si Vhong. Kasi this is something na out of my comfort zone, something different from me,” she explained.

Speaking about her love life, the “Woke Up Like This” star said that her relationship with her Filipino-French boyfriend Chris Johnson is going strong.

She however, denied, that she and Chris are already living in together.

“He goes to the house. He cooks in the house. My mom is there, but no, we’re not living in,” she clarified.

She also clarified that she was never Chris’ business partner.

“I don’t want to mix business kung anuman ang meron kami. Yes, he has businesses here but we’re never partners,” she curtly replied.

It’s also too premature for her to say that he is the man she wants to marry and spend her whole life with.

“I don’t know. Hindi pa ako nakakarating sa puntong iyon. Basta kami, we’re enjoying each other’s company,” she concluded.

“Woke Up Like This” also stars Bayani Agbayani, Cora Waddell, Dionne Monsanto, Yanna Asistio, Raikko Matteo among others.

Produced by Regal Entertainment and directed by Joel Ferrer (Hello World, Baka, Siguro, Yata), “Woke Up Like This” is out to tickle your funny bones come August 23 in cinemas nationwide.
