Here’s Fil-Am author Lourdes Baron’s life changing story
Fil-Am author Lourdes “Lou” Duque Baron is an epitome of talent and inspiration.
Her life is a living testimony of God’s amazing grace and love.
A woman of many talents, interests and accomplishments , she is not only a writer but also a composer, a singer, a scholar, a wife, a mother and a mentor.
She was a scholar, graduated magna cum laude in an American school, earned two Master’s degrees from top universities and was once an exchange student.
As a singer and a Pinay pride, she continues to make waves in Los Angeles in the entertainment arena.
Recently, she successfully relaunched her two inspirational autobiographical books in Casino Español de Manila which are now available online.
“My first book “Scripted in Heaven” was launched in July 29, 2012 in the States and was relaunched in the Philippines in October, 2012 in Libis. My second book “I Called Myself Cassandra” was launched in 2014 and it’s the first time to be launched in the Philippines,” she said.
“Scripted in Heaven” is very spiritual. It’s about my husband’s physical and metaphysical being helped by a saint. Without spoiling the book, many years back, my husband ignored a cryptic warning from an old lady four years before he was diagnosed of colon cancer. She said to him: ‘Father Pio came to me and told me to pray for you’ but my husband said ‘No.’ He’s very arrogant then and said: ‘ I don’t believe you.’ Four years later, he was diagnosed with cancer. Back then, we don’t know Father Pio, but now we are his devotees . There are testimonies in the book . My husband, who’s a surgeon, got healed because of his faith.
“The second book, “I Called Myself Cassandra” was a prequel to “Scripted in Heaven.” It’s my life. It’s all about my life. Just like the first, its message is “If you don’t have Jesus in your life, your life is in darkness.” It’s doing very well in the US . It’s covered by almost 500 digital magazines worldwide,” she added.
She admitted that the personal trials she and her family underwent and suffered made them closer to God and fortified their faith.
“It’s very life changing for me, because of my realization particularly of my personal relationship with God. I was a practicing Catholic then, but not much of a believer, but when I met him and accepted Him as my personal Savior, I found my lost soul and my life was transformed.”
Lou is also an acclaimed musician.
“My first single was launched in September, 2013. My first album was launched in February and in the same year, it won the Breakthrough Album of the Year at the Los Angeles Music Awards, the second biggest award giving body next to Grammys and the American Music Awards.
“Now, I’m recording my fifth album which would be a mix of rock, hiphop and dance music, that’s why I am now collaborating with young artists,” she pointed out.
Next year, she will be staging a concert in the Philippines and will also be producing a show with Shakira.
Her books available in digital formats will also be sold in Powerbooks and National Bookstore outlets.
