Desiree del Valle gets most challenging major role in a Baconaua myth movie
Throughout the years, Kapamilya actress Desiree del Valle has proven herself to be a good actress. Unexpectedly, she has found her niche in doing kontrabida roles.
“Mas nakilala talaga ako bilang kontrabida. So far, enjoy naman ako. Pero ako naman, kahit nakailang beses na akong nagkontrabida, everytime naman that I do a certain character, I make sure na nabibigyan ko siya ng ibang bihis o ibahin siya sa mga previous na nagawa ko na,” she said.
After years of waiting, she is quite ecstatic that she gets to land in a lead role in “Medusae.”
“Ito iyong pinakamatindi kong role na nagampanan. I did indie films before like Aureaus Solito’s “Tuli” pero first major role ko siya.”
According to Desiree, she was glued to the script of Pam Miras, the reason why she accepted her role in the Circle Competition entry of the 2017 QCinema International Filmfest.
“When I was reading the script, weird siya pero interesting. Noong ginagawa na namin ito, mas lalong naging interesting siya. Siyempre, while filming, kailangang alamin mo ang proseso. Naging curious din ako kaya nag-e-exchange kami ng ideas ni Direk lalo na sa pinagkunan niya ng inspirasyon,” she explained.
She said that her character is something that she can relate because of her affinity to filmmaking.
“It is about the story of a documentarist na kasama niya ang kanyang anak na pumunta sa isang remote island to interview the locals about their firstborns na nawawala not thinking na mangyayari rin pala iyon sa kanyang anak na si Carl na isang Albino na nawala rin,” she pointed out.
She however clarified that she’s not doing a Valentina in the movie because of the title’s reference to a mythical snake woman.
“Medusae because it’s about the Baconaua myth. Isang sea serpent na kumukuha ng mga bata pero wala siyang reference sa Greek mythology.”
She said that it took her sometime to do indie movies again, because she concentrated on doing teleseryes.
She also confessed that she faced some hurdles while doing the movie.
“Kailangan naming lumusong sa tubig. Tapos may mga jellyfish pa. Kalaban din namin iyong lamig, then, may mga nakita rin kaming ahas habang nakababad sa tubig. Pero may mga divers naman na kasama namin, na igina-guide nila kami. Itinataboy nila iyong mga ahas. Tapos, tuloy-tuloy ang shoot namin na inabot na ng 3 am. Sabi ko nga, kung magkakasakit din lang kami, sabi ko, sagarin na lang namin. So, sabi ko let’s do it. Iyong ngang si Charles who play the role of my son, nagchi-chill siya noon. So, talagang mahirap,” she recounted.
Desiree is engaged to actor Boom Labrusca.
She said that she gets along well with Toni Labrusca, Boom’s son to singer Angel Jones.
Toni, who has the makings of a matinee idol is the third wheel to Kathniel in “La Luna Sangre.” He was once a finalist in Pinoy Boy Band Superstar, a Pinoy reality singing competition in ABS-CBN.
Desiree also appeared in “La Luna Sangre.”
