From bulilit to lead
After making her star shine in Kapamilya teleseryes like “Dream Dad” and “Ningning,” Jana Agoncillo is keen on making an impact in her first movie lead role in “Nervous Translation,” an entry to the 2017 Cinemaone Originals.
“Sobrang happy and blessed po ako kasi first time ko pong magkaroon ng movie na ako po ang lead. Suwerte rin po na makuha dahil ako po ang napili nila. Malaking bagay po siya sa akin. Kasi, ibig po noong sabihin, napapansin nila ang acting ko kaya po nila ako pinagkakatiwalaan,” she said.
In “Nervous Translation,” she essays the role of a shy girl who discovers a pen that can translate the thoughts and feelings of people when they get nervous.
“Role po siya ng isang batang may OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder) po. Shy po siya at tahimik lang pero mahilig po siyang mag-explore at magbutingting ng mga gamit at pati iyong imaginary na rin po,” she asseverated.
She said she can relate to her role in Shireen Seno’s slightly odd and often magical childhood reverie film.
“Iyong karakter ko po kasi mahilig siyang mag-discover ng mga bagay-bagay at sa totoo po, ganoon din po ako. Sabi nga po ng mga parents ko, ako rin po daw, may pagka-OCD, pero hindi naman daw po grabe iyong sa akin, siguro dahil po may pagka-hyper daw po ako,” she elucidated.
She’s also glad to be given the chance to work with an intense actor like Sid Lucero.
“Si Kuya Sid, masarap po siyang katrabaho. Relax lang po siya at masarap siyang kausap. Inaalalayan din po niya ako dahil sanay na po siya sa paggawa ng mga ganitong klaseng pelikula. Supportive po siya kasi ngayon lang po ako nakagawa ng indie,” she said.
She’s also all praises for her director Shireen Seno whose last work “Big Boy” has also a dreamy and nostalgic vibe.
“Iyong director naman po namin super love ko po siya kasi napakabait po niya at saka po iyong husband niya na si Direk John Torres. Happy din po ako dahil nabibigyan ako ng chance na lumabas sa iba’t-ibang character po tulad dito. Marami rin po akong natutunan sa kanila na hindi ko po naranasan sa TV lalo na po sa pag-arte sa indie,” she concluded.
“Nervous Translation” is Jana’s third movie.
She did important roles in Star Cinema’s “Everything About Her” and in Regal Entertainment’s “Mano Po 7: Chinoy.”
She’s also a mainstay of Goin’ Bulilit and Team YEY.
