2 cool Jameson Blake forgets being picky in getting roles

Dec 8, 2017

Gaining momentum in one’s career in show business requires more than hard work and dedication.

Hashtag member Jameson Blake knows this that’s why the bedimpled charmer is determined to prove that he’s not just a pretty face but a total performer out to transcend the industry’s typecasts and exceed their expectations.

He has been paired off with Kapamilya leading ladies like Julia Barretto, Janella Salvador, Loisa Andallo, to name a few, but as an actor, he’s the type who wanted to make a name for himself in tinseltown, with or without a love team.

Ako naman, hindi ako namimili ng roles. Siyempre, minsan solo ako. Minsan may ka-partner. As long na, it will help me hone my craft as an actor and widen my horizons, tatanggapin ko siya at blessing siya para sa akin,” he said.

He’s also happy that people get to see him not in just “kilig” seryes (movies) but also in serious ones.

“Gusto ko rin kasi na iba-iba iyong ginagawa ko. I want to be versatile and do different roles na hindi ako nakakahon sa isang box and I think, that’s the essence of an actor,” he said.

“Siyempre, I don’t want to portray just good guy stereotypes but also character roles that will challenge me as an actor,” he added.

Being the busiest and most in-demand among his Hashtag peers, Jameson admitted that he still feels the pressure.

Siyempre, medyo nakaka-pressure,” he said.

“After I won best supporting actor sa 2 Cool, parang ang taas lagi ng expectations nila. So ako naman, I don’t want to be overwhelmed kasi gusto ko lang na focus muna sa anumang role na ginagawa ko,” he added.

He also does not want to claim that he has outshadowed and overtaken his Showtime contemporaries like Ronnie Alonte.

“I find it unfair naman if you compare us, lalo na when they say mas magaling ka. I won’t judge myself na I’m better or anything. We each have our own strengths,” he pointed out.

Jameson said that he broke up with his girlfriend last year but that doesn’t mean to say that he’s not inspired.

“Inspired ako sa trabaho ko. Masaya na ako kasi nadaragdagan ang trabaho ko. May mga blessings na dumarating and have a lot to be thankful for. If I have a girlfriend kasi, dagdag lang siyang responsibility and it would also be unfair to her dahil wala akong time for her so, I prefer it this way na muna na nag-e-enjoy sa trabaho ko,” he elucidated.

Regarding some observers’ claim that he’s a better actor than co-Hashtag member Ronnie Alonte, this was what he had to say.

Ako, I won’t judge myself na I’m better or anything, but if that’s what they see then, eh, di ganun talaga. Sila naman ‘yung nagde-decide, eh. Nothing against him,” he said.

Of course, it’s flattering if someone said that, pero ako, I don’t judge the person lalo na at kasama ko siya sa Hashtags,” he concluded.

Jameson plays RJ, Jon Lucas’ best friend who gets embroiled in terror when they are trapped in a haunted forest where elementals roam in “Haunted Forest.”
