Power couple Perci and Jun’s Ideafirst goes full blast in movie production
Aside from the TV shows they are doing, the innovative IdeaFirst Company of power couple Perci Intalan and Jun Lana is going full blast in movie production this year.
As a matter of fact, their movies “Ang Dalawang Mrs. Reyes” and “Mr. and Mrs. Cruz” have successive playdates.
“Well, actually, ang mga ito ay bunga ng 2017. Lahat ng mga projects na ito ay ginawa namin noong 2017 kaya lang nagkadikit-dikit. Meron kami sa Viva na “Mr. and Mrs. Cruz” na showing na sa January 24. Meron ding “Pambansang Third Wheel,” also with Viva. Then we have “Ang Dalawang Mrs. Reyes” na showing na sa January 17 and “My Fairy Tail Love Story” for other film outfits. Tapos, lahat iyon, ipapalabas sa first quarter of 2017,” Perci said.
If they are co-producing movies with different film outfits, it is something that they have planned beforehand.
“Iyon naman talaga ang goal namin nang sinet-up namin ang Idea First . Dream kasi namin na we can work with all film studios. Parang sa US. Di ba, ganoon sa US? Production companies can work together. Kasi, naniniwala kami na sa panahon ngayon, collaboration na talaga ang susi. Iyong magagawa mo on your own will be different sa nagagawa mo kapag kasama mo ang ibang tao. Iyong ginagawa mo sa isang tao will be different if you’re working with others,” Perci elucidated.
As a production company that manages the careers of a talented crop of young filmmakers like Sigrid Andrea Bernardo, Prime Cruz, Miko Livelo, Ivan Adrew Payawal and Dominic Lim, it also wants to give its talents an opportunity to grow professionally by allowing them to work with different film outfits.
“Actually, iyon talaga ang gusto namin. Kunyari si Prime, he was able to do a movie with Star and also with Regal. As an artist kasi, it’s important din na alam mo kung paano makikisalamuha sa mga producers. You know how to collaborate. Part iyon ng professional growth. Hindi mo matututunan iyon kung nagtratrabaho ka lang sa isang producer. It’s either na ma-spoil ko or masanay o nasanay ka na rin to defend your ideas and to adjust. Tulad ng sabi ni Sigrid, as a director, you should know how to collaborate,” Perci reasoned out.
Perci also explained why their movies with catchy titles like “Ang Dalawang Mrs. Reyes” and “Mr. and Mrs. Cruz” that seem like tributes to married women, have successive playdates.
“Actually, may nagsabi nga sa amin na gumawa rin kami ng Mrs. Santos,” pakli niya.
“Nakakatuwa nga dahil both projects ay matagal na. “Mrs. Reyes” was 2008 pa na project ni Jun.
Iyon namang “Mr. and Mrs. Cruz,” sinulat ni Sigrid, bago pa niya ginawa ang “Kita Kita” at bago pa kami nagkasama sa Idea First.
Noong pini-pitch namin, hindi rin naming akalaing magkakasabay siya halos ng playdates. Who would have thought nga ba o baka that was meant to happen,” he pointed out.
He’s also positive that despite their confusing titles, it will not cause a jumble among avid patrons of local cinema.
“Noong una, naisip din namin na baka may malito pero hindi naman siya magkapareho dahil Mrs. Reyes is more of a comedy while iyong “Mr. and Mrs. Cruz” is a drama,” he said.
“We even asked for a brainstorming session with Viva and Star Cinema kung posibleng palitan ang titles at nagustuhan nila iyong stories pati na ang titles, so wala nang nabago. Besides, hindi rin naman magkakaroon ng kalituhan dahil magkaiba sila ng genre,” he added.
