“Bomba” takes home major awards at the 4th Sinag Maynila

In a posh intimate dinner held at the Forbes Ballroom in Conrad Hotel, the winners of the fourth edition of the Sinag Maynila filmfest were announced last night.

ATD Production’s “Bomba” (The Bomb) emerged as the big winner after taking home four acting and technical awards.

A harrowing story of a mute man, a walking ticking bomb who’ll stop at nothing to be heard won best actor, best actress and best director awards for Allen Dizon, Angellie Nicholle Sanoy and Ralston Jover respectively.

It also bagged the best cinematography award for Pipo Domagas.

The most awarded actor of his generation, this is Allen’s 30th acting award and his second best actor trophy in Sinag Maynila Independent Film Festival.

He earned his first best actor nod in the first Sinag Maynila in 2015 in Lawrence Fajardo’s “Imbisibol.”

It is also his third best actor trophy for “Bomba” after his victory in the Warsaw International Film Festival in Poland in January and in the Dhaka International Filmfest in Bangladesh in 2017.

Best Sound Scoring – Mikko Quizon (Abomination)
Documentary Jury Prize – Journeyman Finds Home: The Simone Rota Story
Best Documentary – Mahal, 2017 by Janine Santos
Best Short Film – Duwende by Odin Fernandez

Sinag Maynila is a brainchild of Wilson Tieng, Solar Entertainment and CEO and renowned international director Brillante Mendoza.

It runs until March 15 at selected SM cinemas. The local film festival is made possible by McDonalds, in partnership with FDCP and CineLokal. SM and SM Cinema is the official venue partner.
