GET TO KNOW MIGUEL

“I am a family-oriented person. I like being with my friends and I love working hard. Like in basketball, I have started quite late of an age compared to my contemporaries.

“Determination however made me a responsible towards an admirable athlete. I have developed perseverance as I have proven that it takes time to become better in my field. Truly in basketball, I have realized what they normally say – patience is a virtue.”

AS AN ACTOR

His meaningful answer which to us is strongly grounded, “I want to be known as a multi-talented actor that follows what my heart desires.”

MIGUEL DESCRIBES

“I want people to describe me as down to earth, a humble guy. I want them to know me as an approachable person. ‘Yung taong walang ere.”

Miguel’s taste of music is unique. The repertoire of his covers varies from mellow to upbeat thereby creating a conclusive statement of being promising.

He shared his encounter with then Viva Films director Sir Elson Montalbo.

“I sang Moon River of Andy Williams, The Way You Look Tonight of Frank Sinatra, and Elvis Presley’s Can’t Help Falling in Love when I met with Direk Elson and he said,

“You have must have good ears for melodies.”

“I was flattered to have heard that from him, your eyes have manifested as a window of your soul. You were able to tell the story of the song, you interpreted it based on how the song should have supposedly conveyed its message.

“I’ve felt so overwhelmed, motivated so to speak. Having no practice, no official coaching and yet, hearing some good points from renowned director who happened to be now a vice president of Entertainment TV of Net 25, I am honored.”

ON DEVELOPING ACTING SKILLS

Miguel quips, “modesty aside, in my own assessment, I think I can already act kasi gusto ko natural lang ‘yung pag-arte kasi ayaw ko ng overacting. Kasi ‘di nga naman maganda ‘yung basta ka na lang iyak ng iyak.”

HE LOOKS UP TO

“Jericho Rosales. Natural kasi po siyang umarte. Kapag pinapanood mo siya, hindi maiisip na nanonood ka ng pelikula. Parang nandoon ka mismo sa scene.”

Perhaps, that explains why when Miguel did his first aired commercial was a prominence of his natural delivery of lines and expressive body and facial language.

ON HIS REJECTIONS

“Opo. Marami na po.”

Obviously, you encountered rejections. How did you handle it?

“Yung unang VTR ko, dinibdib ko kasi masakit naman po talaga ma-reject. Pero nung tumagal-tagal na, naisip ko po na natural lang naman ‘yung nari-reject so I took rejections as motivations.”
