“A loving son, a supportive brother, a caring friend,” the first line he delivered when asked, ‘who is Kokoy de Santos?’

He immediately added, “I am compassionate and most of all, a God-fearing person.”

What comes to mind when people hear the name Kokoy de Santos?

“I want to be known at all times po as a simple guy with big dreams and a humble heart.”

You carved your name as a commercial model.  How did this help you in your celebrity career?

“It helped me in so many ways.  First is my acting skills.  I got exposed to different acting style at a young age,

Second, I’ve worked with different actors, directors and staff.  Every person and their every function helped me to become versatile.  From manner of dealing to the technicalities of delivering my roles.  In addition to this, they have all become my network, my connections so to speak,

Lastly, I learned the good working ethics at an early age.  This made me confident as I know, this is the value of professionalism at work and in relating to people.  I can proudly say, it made me a better person and a better actor that I am today.”

You’re systematic in your manner of answering.  With your youngness, how did you learn to answer as if you are like Sen. Chiz Escudero.  Did you notice that whenever he answers, he says, “una,” “pangalawa,” at “sa huli.”

(laughter) “hahaha…. Honestly, di ko naman napansin po ‘yon.  Masyado lang po siguro akong naka-concentrate sa tanong n’yo.  Tense nga po ako e,

“Well anyway, siguro po systematic lang po talaga ako.  Training na rin po siguro from the set at sa bahay.”

Among your TVCs, which one is the most memorable?

“Lahat po ay may kani-kaniyang nagmamarkang memorya sa akin.  Pero masasabi ko po na yung TM commercial ko ay napaka-fortunate ko.  Kasi yung ginawa ko po doon paved way for me to become a brand ambassador of Republika ng TM.  Naging series po yung commercial.”

Sa tingin mo, bakit ka piniling brand ambassador?

“Honestly po hindi ko alam.  However, I know ever since that there is a level of seriousness on every thing and in everything I do.  Perhaps, they have seen or probably have noticed my being dedicated to my craft.”

What are the lessons you learned in doing all these jobs?

“Honestly po, ayaw ko pong tawagin na ‘job’ o ‘trabaho’ po yung ginagawa ko.”

Why?

“Kasi po para sa akin, it is incidental that I financially gain in performing all these things.  But I would rather call it po as an exercise of passion.  Something that I really like to do.”

You are a deep person.

“Talaga po?  Ngayon ko lang po nalaman,” (laughter)

What makes you a deep person?

“Deep? (pause for few seconds)…. Ako po kasi, I always associate myself with my personal experiences and personal learning na nagagawa po sa akin ng mga bagay na ginagawa ko,

“Pero siguro po dahil na rin sa mga experience ko sa buhay.  I know how to react and look at life in a larger perspective.  I always look at life’s lesson. ‘di po ba binanggit ko rin po na God-fearing ako?  I’m sure this helps me a lot po.”

How, in what way?

“I look at every hardship as a blessing.  Kasi depende lang naman po sa tao on how you process hardship.”

You are maturely thinking person.  I commend you for that.

“Thank you po.”

Sa dami ng commercials mo, how is your status in life?  How did you manage or invest your earnings?

“Maayos naman po.  Hindi po mayaman, hindi rin naman po mahirap.  I manage to buy my own car po, I also have a small business and I have humble savings and still saving for my future.”

What’s keeping you busy now?

“As of now po, I am shooting a film with Ms. Ritz Azul. I’m playing the role of her brother and just recently had a shoot in Samar.  A film by Chito Rono titled, ‘Bagtik’ (Cape of Signal Rock).”

So where is your career headed?

“I will work harder and smarter to be noticed as a versatile actor. Looking forward to serious roles, a character that would really make a mark in this industry.”

What is your best asset?  How do you utilize your asset to gain your fullest potential?

“My attitude towards work and in everything I do, I make sure that I am undisturbed, I give my full heart and attention and that makes me confident that surely, I am giving my best.”

In closing, what would you tell your followers who are looking up to you?

“Never give up in reaching your dreams and do not forget those people who helped and motivated you along the way.  These will all guide you on your way up.”
