Rafa-Siguion Reyna wants his lola Armida to watch GOYO
Proud na proud si Rafa-Siguion Reyna sa kanyang role bilang Julian sa pelikulang “Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral.”
“Importante siya kasi siya iyong pinaka-emotional anchor ni Goyo in my view. Every time na vulnerable si Goyo sa pelikula, kinakausap niya ang kapatid niya, so may mga eksena kaming doubtful si Goyo sa mga nangyayari then he turns to his brother Julian and they have conversations,” kuwento ni Rafa.
Bagamat wala raw masyadong nababasa tungkol sa pamilya ni Gregorio del Pilar, may mga naiulat daw naman sa mga aklat at kalatas tungkol dito.
“Actually, interesting siya. I’m sure si Paulo noong inaaral niya iyong character ,ang daming literature about Goyo noong binasa niya. Tapos may account din doon tungkol sa kapatid niya. May nabanggit din tungkol sa kanya sa Battle of Kakarong de Sili,” pagbabahagi niya.
Sa pagsasabuhay ng kanyang karakter, masusi rin daw ang kanyang naging pag-aaral.
“In terms of forming the character, kinausap ko talaga si Jerrold because he wanted the character to be portrayed in a particular way.
“Most of the character was from my discussion with Jerrold and how he wanted me to do it. He’s really the outer expression of Goyo’s vanities. Kumbaga, si Goyo is very internal.
“Babaero si Goyo pero internal. Goyo is vain , pero it’s internal, he keeps it to himself. Si Julian naman, iyong kapatid niya ang nag-eenjoy ng kasikatan nila.
“Ang description ko nga about Julian is may pagka-feeling rock star siya. Hindi siya iyong rockstar kasi si Goyo ang rockstar. Siya iyong feeling rockstar. Hot-tempered siya, medyo may pagka-bad boy,” ani Rafa.
Malaking hamon din daw sa kanya ang gumanap bilang kapatid ni Goyo.
“For me, the challenge was how to play the character close to the vision of the director. It’s like how do you find this love and respect for your brother.
“I was able to play that love and respect for the character because I really focused on his traits. Malaki ang respeto ko kay Paulo as an actor. I think, he has achieved a lot. He worked very hard and he’s a very good actor. Mukha talaga kaming magkapatid,” esplika niya.
Naging open sa interpretasyon at batikos ang treatment na ginawa ni Jerrold Tarog sa “Heneral Luna,” kaya handa rin daw sila kung anuman ang magiging opinyon dito ng mga tao kasama na ang mga academicians at historians.
“Open naman kami sa discourse. Ang filmmaker naman may creative license.
“There’s a lot written in the literature for me to based on. We really formed and shaded in the character on how Direk Jerrold wanted it in the story. Siya naman iyong nagkukuwento,” bulalas niya.
Hirit pa ni Rafa, gusto niyang ipanood sa kanyang lola ang “Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral.”
“I’m sure, she’ll be proud of me and of the movie,” pagwawakas niya.
Si Rafa ay huling napanood sa GMA teleseryeng “Kambal Karibal.” Isa siyang showbiz royalty dahil anak siya ang award-winning director na si Carlos Siguion Reyna at Tofarm festival director Bibeth Orteza.
