From sitcom to big screen: ‘Hapi Ang Buhay’ is tasteful
Antonio Aquitania, Mike Magat, and Victor Neri highlight the comedy TV series turned movie ‘Hapi Ang Buhay,’ written and directed by Carlo Ortega Cuevas.
It is a reinvention of aesthetic on TV into movie. Produced by EBC Films, the director makes sure that the story is well-told in a colorful way. As director, he tells the simple story of Filipinos where life is full of unending surprises. Carlo is known for his “Walang Take Two” and “Guerrero” which bagged international awards.
“I believe that promoting values doesn’t have to be boring. So we are trying our best to educate and inspire the audience without sacrificing entertainment value,” direk Carlo shares.
Internationally-acclaimed director believes that telling a story with values doesn’t have to be serious. Putting twists, music, dance, fun–that worked in ‘Hapi Ang Buhay.’

The musical film is well-choreographed, the cast dances in tune, there is timing. It is well-executed without over trying. Every performance is worth watching as it gives life to the eyes of the viewers. Though some of the cast members are not veterans or big stars, they pull off their own spots without being intimidated to veterans like Mike and Victor.
Equally good, the cast sings like a pro, a fun musical to watch. What’s important–it’s not boring. They sing like a total performer. They are not just singing, they are delivering the message of the songs.
‘Hapi Ang Buhay’ is a total fun experience, a sing and dance of Pinoy life tells in a tasteful way.
