FDCP chair Liza Diño no to “first day last day,” tells filmmakers to promote

Feb 10, 2019

If there is one person who really cares for Philippine cinema, she is Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) chairwoman Liza Diño who asks and requests all filmmakers to promote their films.

“I hate first day last day. Mag-promote kayo. Gumawa kayo ng paraan to promote your films.”

She cites the success of “The Hows Of Us,” that stars Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla who will receive this year’s Camera Obscura from FDCP, is because of consistent promotion. The 3rd FDCP’s Film Ambassadors Night is happening tonight, February 10 at the Samsung Hall of SM Aura, Taguig City.

I ask my friend Ogie Narvaez Rodriguez, who’s the friend of Bernardo family, if Kathryn will personally accept the award, he ignores me. Nakakaloka!

My new friend JC Bagio (he says, “ikaw ‘yung sa Facebook”), who’s the FDCP’s PR, reminds, “Cocktails start at 6PM so this will be the best time to mingle/interview the honorees and awardees. Program starts at 8PM. Videos and Cameras will have a designated area inside the venue. We advise to have a telephoto lense for coverage because cameramen will not be allowed to move around outside the designated area while the program is ongoing. The preferred attire for the event is Filipiniana Chic but business casual is also okay.”

Good to show that FDCP are really working their ass off to improve the movie industry and to develop more ways to promote local films. Though Diño is so busy with her job as chairwoman, she makes sure that she has time for her husband Ice Seguerra.

And as we celebrate the 100 years of Philippine cinema, Diño ends, “maraming dapat abangan. Totoong may ginagawa ang FDCP.”
