‘Himaya’ embraces new sound
‘Himaya’ knows how to rebrand. But still connected to the core, not losing who they are—to inspire people with their songs.
From singing 60’s vibe to the now sound, they believe that music is a therapy, it heals, it inspires, it helps people. The band always makes sure their authenticity.
The band name means “praise.” They consider their brand as inspirational pop-rock, founded by Alvin Barcelona, who also preaches.
“We’re considering millennials. But there is no formula talaga para makagawa ka ng hit. We want to inspire, that’s our intention,” the preacher-founder says.
He explains that a band is a group effort from keyboardist to drummer. Jeric Mison, Matthew Perez, Mike Nuez, Aio Barcelona, Gab Espinosa complete the music.
On May 5, their new single “PAYAKAP,” along with its music video, will be officially released on Spotify, Facebook, and other social media platforms.
“The song will not only entertain but also inspire, move, and even bless the world which, at present, could surely use HIMAYA’s brand of music,” Alvin shares.
