Ronnie Liang teary-eyed singing his new Christmas song
After his successful pinning ceremony as a solo pilot, singer-actor Ronnie Liang released “Sa Paskong Darating,” a Christmas song dedicated to his mother and OFWs.
The Singing Pilot told PSR that he became emotional while recording the song written by Joel Abad.
In 2017, his mother passed away because of pneumonia. She was very supportive to Ronnie since his Pinoy Dream Academy journey.
“The song reminds me of my mother. Tuwing pasko, simula noong 2018, nalulungkot ako dahil wala na s’ya. Ganoon pala ‘yun, malungkot ang pasko kapag may kulang.
“While recording the song, super emotional ako. Tagos sa puso ‘yung song. I dedicate the song also sa mga OFW, sa mga taong malalayo sa kanilang mga mahal sa buhay every Christmas,” he shared.
After its release, different FM stations named it as most in demand Christmas song and made it to Spotify’s most requested Christmas songs.
“I’m happy na maraming nagre-request nung song. Tuluy-tuloy pa rin naman ang paggawa ko ng music. With this one, it’s self-produced. As an artist, as you grow, dapat nag i-innovate rin talaga,” he said.
The Viva artist plans to produce more songs and an album next year. His revival song “Ligaya” was noticed by PMPC Star Awards for Music this year. He is nominated as Male Recording Artist Of The Year and Revival Recording Artist Of The Year. The awards night will happen next year, January.
“Super grateful. Maraming dapat ipagpasalamat ngayong taon. Natapos ko ‘yung pagpipiloto. Now preparing for private and commercial license. Na-nominate sa Star Awards for Music. Nag-concert with Sarah G and may collab song pa with her. Super blessed,” he expressed.
“Sa Paskong Darating” is out now on Spotify. Its music video premiered December 13 on Myx.
