‘Ayuda Babes’ delivers the perfect (comic) relief during this pandemic
It’s been almost a year since the whole country was put on a lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic. If there’s one thing the experience has given us, it’s the realization that what we really need to survive are just the basic things in life – food, shelter, and coping skills.
This 2021, we continue to roll with the punches and face the same struggles with utmost hope. We learn to adjust and adapt to changes as the country slowly eases back to normalcy.
Known for our resilience and fun-loving nature, it is no surprise we can easily make light of our situation, brush off the stress, and laugh at the unique experiences we shared last year. That is exactly what Saranggola Media Productions is offering this March – a hilarious throwback at the year that was.
AYUDA BABES, a comedy film project under the helm of seasoned director Joven Tan, presents a riotous story that brings together the country’s celebrated and rising comedians. The film goes to the barangay level and weaves different anecdotes during the enhanced community quarantine time. The highly relatable characters are given life by a colorful cast coming from theater and standup comedy backgrounds.
In the story, comedy and chaos await as the crazy lives of a barangay captain, his sidekick, the gossipmongering salon mainstays, and a live-in couple intertwine during the lockdown. No less than TikTok King Gardo Versoza, TV and theater performer Joey Paras, Best Actress awardee Iyah Mina, Miss Q&A Juliana Parizcova Segovia, up and coming standup comedians Negi, Brenda Mage, Petite Brockovich, Berni Batin, and Mashup Queen Ate Gay make up the cast. They are joined by Bubble Gum Pop Princess Christi Fider, BidaMan Dan Delgado, and Hashtag Zeus Collins. Cameo appearances from singer Marlo Mortel and broadcast journalist Marc Logan are also expected to spice things up.
“Aside from its entertainment value and making people feel good and laugh, this movie is my modest tribute to the courage, tenacity, and the never-say-die mentality in every Filipino,” Director Joven Tan said.
With all the scare and uncertainty looming around us, Ayuda Babes is set to provide the kind of relief we need at this time. And the good thing is, there is enough for everyone! Streaming on March 5 on iWantTFC and KTX.ph, purchase your tickets now.
