The First Lady, together with President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., recently led the inauguration of the 500-meter showcase area in Plaza Mexico, near the Old Post Office in Manila, Pasig River.
The beautification project of the 25-kilometer stretch of the historic waterway is one of the priority project which is under the program of the office of the First Lady, in partnership with other government agencies.

“Rest assured that apart from our enthusiasm and optimism, the First Lady and I will provide our all-out support and commitment to the completion of this project, and hopefully in three years’ time, that will be our goal,” President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., during the launch of the project said.
“Bringing the Pasig River back to life mirrors our ongoing journey towards a brighter future for our country. How well we do here will reflect our efforts in other areas of the country and how successful we are at improving and leaving the country a better place than we found it,” Marcos said.
“Supporting and participating in the efforts of the government and its partners to help maintain its cleanliness, and that will go a long way,” Marcos added.
Marcos stressed that “how well we do here will reflect our efforts in other areas of the country and how successful we are at improving and leaving the country a better place than we found it.”
The President encouraged the agencies and organizations collaborating for the completion of esplanade to ensure that the whole project will be finished within the target time frame.
This Phase 1C involves functional development, which includes pedestrian-friendly infrastructure, commercial zones, and green spaces. It also covers leasable stalls, walkways, bike lands, and a boardwalk.
