LMP expresses unwavering support to PBBM
Despite political tensions between President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Vice President Sara Duterte, local leaders swore to continue to support national leadership, preserve the Constitution, and prioritize community service.
In a statement, Iloilo City Mayor Geronimo “Jerry” Trenas emphasized that local leaders who are on the front lines of providing services to our people will always support the Constitution and the rule of law as the foundation of governance.
“It is crucial, especially in times of political differences at the national level, to prioritize stability and unity for the welfare of the Filipino people,” he said.
The mayor stated that, while the disagreement between President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Vice President Sara Duterte has spurred public debate, he feels that the democratic system gives the framework to address these problems.
“As local officials, we remain focused on working hand in hand with the national administration to implement programs and initiatives that uplift the lives of our constituents,” Trenas shared.
“It is my hope that this matter will be resolved constructively, guided by the principles of our Constitution and the rule of law. Let us all continue to lean on the strength of the administration’s commitment to progress and development for a better Philippines,” he added.
Meanwhile, the League of Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP), which consists of town mayors in the country, expressed their “unwavering support” to the President.

The mayors then called for restraint and accountability amid the issue involving the second highest official of the land.
“Leadership demands a higher standard of conduct that prioritizes the welfare of the Filipinos above personal or political interests,” the LMP said.
“We reject any threats of violence or actions that may undermine the safety and stability of our nation. As local elected officials who are mandated to look after the welfare of our people, we are calling on our fellow public servants and the Filipino people to rally behind the President,” it added.
