Actress & body activist Iza Calzado fulfills Star Awards Best Actress dream
The recently concluded 34th Star Awards for Movies held at the Newport Performing Arts in Resorts World Manila was definitely a night of glitz and glamour.
Hosted by Xian Lim, Kim Chiu, Julia Barretto, Enchong Dee and Iza Calzado, the well-attended event was a great success.
Iza Calzado bested out Kim Chiu, Sharon Cuneta, Alessandra De Rossi, Agot Isidro, Bela Padilla, Maja Salvador and Jodi Sta. Maria in the movie actress of the year category for her performance in “Bliss,” a psychological thriller which won for her international acting award at the 2017 Osaka Asian Film Festival.
Theater actor RS Francisco bagged the best actor award for his sympathetic performance of a con artist in “Bhoy Intsik,” an entry to the 2017 Sinag Maynila Filmfest.
Character actress Odette Khan won the best supporting actress award for “Bar Boys” while indie film actor Arnold Reyes took home the best supporting actor trophy for “Birdshot.”
Award-winning actress and TV director Gina Alajar was conferred the Ulirang Alagad ng Pelikula by the Nora Aunor Foundation while Cinemanila founder and acclaimed megman Tikoy Aguiluz was given the Ulirang Alagad ng Pelikula sa Likod ng Kamera.
