Agassi Ching, proves his being the Chinito Charm of the Philippine TV; Most sought global brand endorser
Year 2018 is prolific for Agassi Ching, virally known as Chinito Charm of the Philippine TV. He has recently concluded a well-supported serye of ABS-CBN’s The Good Son where he portrayed a bigger-than-minor character. He made his mark and his stardom is much more far-reaching.
Chanced upon random talk with netizens, it was made known to us that upon hearing the name Agassi Ching, its pitch is as being an actor, a model and a performer and a visible commercial endorser.
In retrospect, how was your experience in The Good Son?
“It was great! Working with Direk Manny Palo was an amazing experience as well as forming a great bond with the cast. A great learning experience and definitely lots of memories to cherish.”
What was your unforgettable scene?
“Most unforgettable scene was the graduation scene, because it was when I know the serye is ending.”
I am sure from good, you have become a better son. Do you think so?
“I am, indeed! Yabang ba? Sorry ha but really, people can really say many good things about me. ‘Learned so many things especially the continued growth in many aspects. I have so much to learn.”
Your McDonald’s endorsement, that’s a great opportunity. What can you say?
“Not to be presumptuous but that’s one of the perks of being a good son. That is something that came along my way.”
How were you considered by a worldwide brand?
“I got the McDonald’s commercial through auditioning, I had various VTRs. It was tough. It’s sweat and tears. Until I made it to final casting then went straight to fitting and workshop.”
You must be lucky. I remember Sharon Cuneta, Gabby Concepcion and other big names. How does it feel that you are arrayed with these big names?
“Naku, nakakataba naman ng puso. Pero sa mga kagaya ko po na di naman maililinya kila Sharon o Gabby, our lives or our being a commercial model are often far less glamorous than they appear. Mas marami po kaming nitty-gritty. Pero siyempre, salamat po sa ganyang recognition. I am honored but that doesn’t really go to my head.”
Did you have fun?
“Opo. It was a real fun because we were playing NBA on PS4 which is my hobby. Pero ‘yun naman po talaga ang importante, yung masaya ka sa trabaho mo kaya po nagagawa ko ng maganda yung ine-expect po sa akin.”
The other visible materials moving around the social media is your Chippy. Can you share this medium to us?
“#Chippykadas is an effective integration of social media in a TV commercial. It’s a different approach now. As you know, brands have to be responsive nowadays. This is the brand’s tool for translating traditional media into shareable content.”
Whoa! That’s deep. What makes you reply as if you are a brand manager?
“Hahahaha…. Seryoso? Natawa naman ako do’n. But seriously, I am a Thomasian with a degree in Marketing. Nagagamit ko rin yung pinagaralan ko sa mga brand endorsements ko.”
I see. That’s why it has hit a record high. So how do you relate your character in Chippy in real life?
“As one of the #Chippykadas, I love portraying my character in all my Chippy ads because it best defines my character.”
Your character in what way?
“My being makulit and fun to be with. I have my own ways of making people smile, especially those that are around me.”
Which reminds me, you were a print ad model of Giordano. Can you share your experience with the brand?
“It was an awesome experience! I was on cloud nine for quite some time. Giordano was my first ever ad that was released in all malls nationwide. I’m hoping that it would happen again. I’m keeping my fingers crossed.”
Since you have these big brands, would this affect your career as an actor progressively? Don’t you think that you are perceived now as a commercial model than an actor? What’s your take on this?
I hope so. I believe that everything’s a process and I can be versatile as a commercial model as well as an actor. I believe that everything great starts with a little step, and I won’t stop pursuing acting because it’s what I love to do.”
There are a lot to expect from Mr. Agassi Ching especially that he is now a contract star of Regal Films. Equally would be the brands he is working with which he did not let the cat out of the bag about his upcoming endorsements.
