The beautiful Angel Aquino and Kapamilya Primetime King did several movies and teleseryes for ABS-CBN.

However, according to her, this is her first time to work in an action series like “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano.”

She is also happy with evolution of Coco Martin as an actor, storyteller and director.

Coco, unbeknownst to many, is the creative consultant of the said top rating teleserye.

“I’m glad to see him evolve as an artist. I’m glad to work with him again,” she said.

She also finds him dedicated and passionate about his job.

“He’s very meticulous and detailed. I welcome the challenge, the situations and the circumstances that go with my role. It’s actually an exercise for us not to be complacent and always keep us on our toes,” she explained.

“Istrikto siya on the way how the story should be told but when it comes to us, actors, he gives us naman the freedom to interpret our roles,” she added.

Angel plays the role of Brigadier General Diana Olegario, a feisty military in “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano, Book 2.”

For her the crucial part of her role is in her preparation.

“Ang pinakamahirap ay iyong preparation, especially when you received your script only through viber and you have to memorize names. Very technical din siya kasi I have to know their language. Iyong jargon nila. Mahirap to get it right away but you have to prepare yourself to be in that mode like the military,” she elucidated.

She also feels empowered by her role in the long-running Dreamscape production.

“Feeling ko empowered ako as a woman who can take care of herself na hindi dumedepende sa pag-ibig o sa ibang tao para sa kanyang kaligayahan. Feeling ko, I’m one of the boys,” she said.

“Nakaka-relate ako dahil as a mother who is also a father figure and a single parent, I have to be strong sa mga trials and should be a source of strength of my kids o kapag may authority ka sa mga tao under you. Of course, lalo na sa military world kung saan dominated siya ng men. Tapos, there is this woman on top so, I feel empowered. I feel so honored and it’s a privilege for me to tackle such a role,” she added.

Aside from “FPJ’s ang Probinsyano,” Angel has a Cinemalaya entry this year.

She is looming to be the underdog among festival favorites in Ian Arondaing’s “Sa Gabing Nanahimik ang Mga Kuliglig.”

“I play the lead in the movie. It is about the sin of the confessional. I killed somebody. I went to the priest to absolve for my sins. Then, nagkaroon ng dilemma dahil the priest is caught up in a situation whether he has to choose whether to follow the mandate of the church or violate his vow of secrecy or uphold his obligations as a citizen under the law of the people,” she said.

She considers her role physically challenging and demanding.

“The physically taxing part of my role was when I had to carry the cross. Sobrang hirap talaga ang penitensya kasi I’ve never done anything that violent but it’s just allegorical kasi part siya ng dream sequence,” she revealed.

If confronted with the same situation with that of the priest in the story, she said she does not really know exactly how she’s going to handle it.

“Actually, mahirap siya. I don’t really know. But maybe if it’s a dear friend or a member of my family is involved, I have to weigh the circumstances. Ako kasi, I respect people’s right to confidentiality. Kumbaga as a friend, I will not divulge something na sinabi mo sa akin na sikreto, pero halimbawa, anak ko ang involved and she did something bad at concerned ang truth, I think I have to be morally upright and do the right thing kahit masakit siya,” she concluded.

“Sa Gabing Nanahimik ang Mga Kuliglig” also stars Jake Macapagal, Jess Mendoza, Anthony Falcon, Ricky Davao, Sam Quintana, Mercedes Cabral, Mark Dionisio and a lot more.
