
Award-winning director Gil Portes passes away at 71
The mastermind behind Saranggola, Gatas sa Dibdib ng Kaaway, and Mga Munting Tinig passed away, Wednesday night, May 24.
Gil Portes was confirmed “dead on arrival.”
His fellow friends in the industry were shocked, praying for his soul.
The veteran director was considered as one of the great directors in Philippine cinema. He directed films like Never Ever Say Goodbye, Andrea, Paano Ba Ang Maging Isang Ina?, Markova: Comfort Gay, and many films that marked history.
Portes’ last films were Hermano Puli which starred Kapuso actor Aljur Abrenica and Moonlight Over Baler which starred Elizabeth Oropesa.
His contributions to Philippine cinema were unquestionable and helped uplift the industry in terms of storytelling.
