Award-winning filmmaker Emille Joson speaks out

Dec 12, 2022

Emille Joson continues to dominate international scene with her short films that mirror reality. Her short films recently captured the attention of Hollywood stars.

As a filmmaker, she wants to tell raw and honest stories of people. One movie critic said, “When she does films, expect the unexpected.”

The award-winning filmmaker’s sister recently faced controversy. Last April, a well-known Bulakenya humanitarian and businesswoman Dina Joson was nabbed by NBI-Malolos Bulacan and later transfered to Main-Detention Center (Manila Taft) for Syndicated Estafa among 4 others.

Dina’s legal camp filed petition for bail and after a thorough scrutiny of the documentary and testimonial evidence presented at the trial, the RTC Malolos Bulacan (Branch 83) granted the petition and they eventually set free last August 25, 2022.

Thanks to their legal team Atty. Vladimir Bugaring and Atty. Yurik Bugaring.

Dina went home with die-hard supporters infront of their gate, church goers, activists, friends, and well-wishers who gave her flowers, bibles, and letters.

It was a joyous moment for her. Netizens took to twitter siding to Joson clan during her incarceration and calling it another De Lima occurrence, especially after finding out she’s related to international short-filmmaker sensation Emille.

As a supportive sister, Emille doesn’t hold back naming two powerful men behind her older sister’s biggest nightmare. The Baliuag Bulacan Mayor Ferdie Estrella and it’s staff / relative Eric Tagle who both denying meeting her sister even tons of City Hall private conference photo ops shown at the trial.

Here’s Emille Joson’s full statement:

“The effect of social media is insane. The truth is already coming sa social media. But I’m deeply grateful for our legal team.”

She added, “A man who’s in a power known for constant lying, and his clan so you can get what I mean. May mababuting politiko pero sila? I don’t think so. There’s no way my sister will ever con people. Wala ngang kinuhang pera sa video during entrapment. The Alaga Producers Cooperative, our late father’s investments still on-going and all of these are legal. Most of them see the Mayor’s team as bunch of emasculated men, threatened by empowered woman since marami ang nagsasabing tumakbo ang Ate ko sa politics at nang sumabog ang balita na maghe-Hermana sya sa mga simbahan roon.

“Sinira nila talaga ang reputasyon, ginamit pa sa eleksyon her misfortune incident by posting attack on their page. That’s how I see it too.”

Emille continued, “I’d like to thank the Lord, the court for being fair, the NBI-Main Manila for addressing my sister’s heart condition. Sobra ang pasasalamat ng Kapatid ko sa Taft noon, tinrato nilang maayos ‘yung tao at mga kasama nito despite many heavy restrictions dahil nga detainees sila. Never naman nabastos ang pagkababae ng Ate ko at pagkatao ng mga kasama nya.

“So thank you, Sir Enrico Cabero and team, as well to BJMP Malolos led by Warden Willy Tinaza. Salamat kasi hindi po kayo salbaheng trumato sa mga detainees. I’d also like to thank of course our family lawyers Atty. Vladimir and Atty. Yurik Bugaring and their team. As well to our few relatives, few closest friends who supported and believed in her.”
