“Becoming Filipino, Your Travel Blog” hosted by Canadian travel blogger turned host Kyle Jennermann is set to bring exciting innovations in travel shows.

Slated to premiere on August 14 on ANC at 7:30 pm with replays every Saturday at 4:30 pm, it is a one-of-a kind show that goes beyond showcasing exciting travel destinations but also features inspiring stories of people, places and events about everything Pinoy.

What makes it unique? It is the only travel show hosted by a Canadian with a heart of a Pinoy.

Kyle is a 28-year old Canadian who has visited 29 enchanting countries in Europe, North

America and the Asia-Pacific, but was totally smitten by our country’s special charm, that he has decided to stay here for good. He is also known as “Kulas” to his legion of admirers, here and abroad – Filipinos and foreigners alike –who follow his journeys and visual storytelling, via social media through #BecomingFilipino.

“I have never experienced before what I got to experience in the Philippines. I have never met such kind, giving, friendly, hard-working, outgoing, proud and happy people. I have never experienced a culture like the Philippines; a culture that every single day inspires me, and that I look
up to. It is a place where the natural environment is unbelievably beautiful. The waterfalls, beaches, mountains, rivers…. I could go on and on about it. But what really inspire me about the Philippines is its people. I’m happy for being part of a culture where family isn’t the only family, but friends and even strangers are family. Where smiling is genuine, giving is natural and sharing is a part of everyday life. A culture that goes through a lot of really tough times and suffering, but still shares a great big smile”, says Kyle.

What is #Becoming Filipino?

“It is 100% from the heart, full of inspiration and passion with one goal: inspiring people to visit connect with and experience the wonders and beauty of the Philippines in a positive way. I genuinely believe that if people across the globe are introduced to this culture and country, it can have a positive effect on their lives and the world around us, as the beauty and culture here is incredibly unique and diverse. My focus has always been 100% the Philippines and I want to share and spread all the goodness and positive vibes about this amazing country”, he explains.

Kyle has been exploring and interacting with the country’s friendly people, almost without let up for nearly three years now, and in the process learning and imbibing their diverse cultures.

Having visited more than 30 provinces and documented every experience through videos, written stories and even talked on various engagements about his adventures in the Philippines, he can speak in basic Tagalog and Bisaya as well as fun words in different dialects, which gives him the chance to truly connect with the country and its people.

What to you is becoming a Filipino?

“I generally believe becoming a Filipino is experiencing from the Filipino culture, its people, its environment, its food and culture. It is connecting and sharing positivity, happiness and even inspiration to people by way of your experiences. It is not about an issue of citizenship or color of the skin. It is sharing your passion for life. I am proud where I came from in Canada but I consider Philippines as my home”, he confides.

Kulas’ Facebook reach alone has now touched more than 140 million people, not “just because of breathtaking beautiful photos” but owing to the depth and engaging substance of his first-person narrative.

His travel blog may be akin to a tourism movement that is heavily supported by Filipinos here in the country, and around the world. Being a fast learner and versatile to all forms of media from TV and radio show hosting, doing social media videos to writing informative blog posts and sharing simple educational pictures, he can handle any adventure that makes him a cut above the rest. He features off the beaten path and simple things that many other people sadly overlook or forgot about like the hospitality of the Titas in Homhonhon who showed simple but genuine acts of kindness by giving chairs and chocolates to strangers who they don’t even know.

Becoming Filipino is ranked number 1 on the list of “Top 5 Foreign Bloggers Who Sincerely Love the Philippines and the Filipinos”.

Last January, Kyle was featured by Huffington Post as Top 5 of the World’s Best

Male Travel Bloggers.
