BG Films bares 2018 lineup
BG Films, the home of quality indie films will go full blast this year with its very interesting lineup.
Aside from Louie Ignacio’s “Almost A Love Story” which stars Barbie Forteza and Derrick Monasterio and Ralston Jover’s “Latay” which features multi-awarded actor Allen Dizon, it will produce several projects with big stars in the stellar cast.
Definitely, award-winning director Joel Lamangan will have his hands full.
He will meg Heart Evangelista in “Angela Lumunsad” based on Kristoffer Brugada’s (“Patikul”) script.
It is a story of the a woman who accidentally disguises herself as a school town teacher and experiences the ordeal of one in a remote town in the South.
He is also set to do “Maruming Hangin,” a satirical comedy with an “anti-pollution” theme.
Soon, he will also start principal photography for “You Belong To Me” for ALV Productions and “My Mother, My Daughter” for Garahe Films.
Mel Chionglo stages a directorial comeback after “Iadya Mo Kami” in “Sixty in the City,” a drama about a woman experiencing midlife crisis with no less than Charo Santos as the lead star.
The story is based on Palanca award-winning writer Lualhati Bautista’s (“Dekada ‘70”, “Bata, Bata, Paano Ka Ginawa?) acclaimed novel.
Louie Ignacio returns to Cinemalaya via “School Service,” a mystery drama.
This is also the first time that BG will be co-producing a film for Cinemalaya.
He will also direct La Aunor in “Sa Mundo ng mga Higante” about the challenges faced by a mother in raising midgets.
Also included in the lineup are projects to be directed by Jason Paul Laxamana, Neal Tan and Joey Romero.
Baby Go, the executive producer, is also being offered to produce a Hollywood film.
She vows that she will continue to produce quality maindie films.
“Passion ko na ang paggawa ng movie. Tumutulong din ako sa pagma-market. Awa ng Diyos, nabibili naman ang broadcast rights ng films namin kaya bumabalik ang pera kahit paano. Basta masaya ako sa pagpro-prodyus, at ang mga artista ko at mga director, hindi nila ako binigyan ng sakit ng ulo at hindi nila ako pinababayaan kaya inspired akong mag-produce,” she said.
