Bobbi Kristina Brown, the only daughter of the late singer Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown, has died. She passed away July 26, 2015 at the age of 22. She has been hospitalized since January 31 after she was found unresponsive in her bathtub. Her family said she suffered from irreversible brain damage. According to her aunt, Marion “Pat” Houston, by June, after months of deteriorating health, Brown was moved to a hospice care.

Born in 1993, Brown was music royalty as Whitney Houston’s only child. In 2009, she joined her mom onstage for a performance of “My Love is Your Love” on Good Morning America. In 2012, barely a month after her mom passed away, Brown appeared on OWN: Oprah Winfrey’s Next Chapter series where she talked about her mother’s death. “I can hear her voice and spirit talking to me, and telling me, ‘Keep moving, baby,” Brown told Oprah Winfrey. “’I’m right here, I gotcha.’’

Mother and daughter’s lives had always been the subject of unflattering tabloid stories. “It wasn’t easy,” Houston said as Brown smiled at the audience. “But she never let go of my hand. And I never let go of hers.”

Whitney Houston’s official Facebook account says, “It’s hard to say goodbye. On Sunday, July 26, Bobbi Kristina Brown made her transition peacefully. The family thanks everyone for their loving thoughts and prayers.” As Bobbi Kristina would say: “The wind is behind me and the sun is in my face.”

“She is finally at peace in the arms of God,” her family told NBC News in a statement. “We want to thank everyone for their tremendous amount of love and support during these last few months.”
