Talented child actor Noel Comia, Jr. stars in his first lead role in Thop Nazareno’s “Kiko Boksingero,” an official entry to the 2017 Cinemalaya filmfest.

Noel previously appeared in movies like “Ang Tatay kong Sexy” with Jinggoy Estrada and “This Time,” a Jadine starrer where he portrayed the role of the young James Reid.

But before obtaining roles in film and television, Noel began his career as a stage actor and a commercial model.

“Theater po talaga ang background ko pero marunong din po akong kumanta at umarte,” he said.

He did several stage plays and musicals, the latest of which was “Cinderella.”

In PETA, he starred in “Munting Saranggola,” “Rated PG” at “Tagu-taguan.”

He was also a standout when he did Pinocchio for Repertory Philippines and made a name for himself in various theater productions like Tanghalang Pilipino’s “Prinsipe Munti” and the 60th anniversary production of “Noli Me Tangere: The Opera” where he essayed the role of Basilio.

One of the best theater child actors of his generation, he’s also one of the scholars of Kids Acts Philippines (KAPI), a premier children theater production in the Philippines.

Being a great artist, it does not come as a surprise to know that he also dabbles in all sorts of arts, not just acting.

As a musician, he can play guitar, piano, drums, violin, ukulele and harmonica.

He also became a voice talent in radio and TV ads.

In “Kiko Boksingero,” he plays the role of a young boy who dreams of becoming a boxer.

“Idolo ko po kasi si Manny Pacquiao pero never ko pong naisip na maging boksingero,” he enthused.

Aside from having continual discussions with his director, he did his assignment in preparation for his role.

“Nanood po ako ng mga video at pinag-aralan ko po kung paano tumayo ang isang boksingero,” he said.

“Si Kiko po kasi, nakatira siya sa yaya ng mommy niya na si Diday, kasi kamamatay lang po ng kanyang nanay. Never po niyang nakilala ang kanyang tatay at hinahanap po niya ang kanyang identity,” he added.

He also revealed that he has a love interest in the movie.

“Sarah po ang pangalan niya, siya po iyong inspirasyon ko,” he disclosed.

Last year, he joined “The Voice Kids” Season 3 where he was mentored by no less than the Tony Award-winning actress Lea Salonga.

Although he did not make it to the finals, he had the chance to work with the Broadway Diva in the Asian premiere of the Tony-award winning musical “Fun Home” as one of the Bechdel kids.

According to Noel, his loss in the said music talent show does not discourage him to strive better.

“Hindi po ako nadi-discourage. Kasi, dapat po kapag nakikipag-compete ka, meron ka pong heart of a champion. Lahat naman po ay nakukuha po sa hard work at pagtitiyaga,” he concluded.

Noel was last seen on television in the Kapamilya longest-running drama anthology, “Maalaala Mo Kaya” where he played the young Tawag ng Tanghalan champion Noven Belleza.
