Christian Bables is still in shock over Gawad Urian win
Last year, the “Pambansang Beshie ng Bayan” won best supporting actor for his effective portrayal as Barbs, Ballesteros’ best friend in “Die Beautiful.”
His victory was repeated when he was adjudged best supporting actor at the 40th Gawad Urian last night.
Asked how he felt beating his “Finally Found Someone” co-star John Lloyd Cruz and other acting heavyweights in the said category, the actor had this to say:
“Si Kuya Lloydie po kasi, I look up to him as an actor. Ako kasi, iyong ma-nominate ka alongside with Kuya Lloydie, Tito Julio at Tito Bembol at saka iyong iba pang nominees, malaking bagay na po iyon sa akin. Iyong manalo po ako, bonus na lang po iyon,” he said.
For Christian, winning an award does not necessarily mean validation to be called an actor.
Kumbaga po, you’re just as good as your last work.
However, he admitted that his career made a 360 degree turn after winning acting trophies.
“In a way po, advantage siya. Dumami po ang projects ko. Nagkasunud-sunod po. Nagkaroon na rin po ako ng fans at followers, so malaking tulong po talaga siya,” according to Christian.
Christian is in the cast of “Finally Found Someone,” Ashley’s (Sarah Geronimo-John Lloyd Cruz) reunion project after four years, where he plays the role of an intern.
He also thanked the Kapamilya actor for sharing to him some nuggets of wisdom.
Aside from “Finally Found Someone” which opens in cinemas on July 26, he is also doing the horror movie “Ghost Bride” with Kim Chiu for Star Cinema.
He is also in the cast of Regal Film’s “Recipe for Love” the prolific Joey Reyes as director and “Bagtik” for an independent film outfit with meticulous Chito Roño as megger.
He also reprises his role as Barbs in “Born Beautiful” a TV series and a spinoff of “Die Beautiful” for Idea First Company and Cignal TV.
