CineFilipino Film Festival 2016 Finalists Announced
The 2nd CineFilipino Film Festival will take place from February 2-9, 2016 and it promises to be a bigger event due to new categories and increased grants. For the next edition of the said festival sponsored by Unitel, MediaQuest, PLDT Smart Foundation, Meralco, and Metro Pacific Tollways, a total of 442 entries were screened. Here are the finalists for the various categories:
Feature-Length Film (each finalist will receive a Php 2 Million grant):
1) Carla Marie Baful – “A Lotto Like Love”
2) Randolph Longjas – “Van Damme Stallone”
3) Jason Paul Laxamana – “Ang Taba Ko Kasi”
4) Dexter Hemedez and Allan Ibanez – “1st Sem”
5) Alvin Yapan – “Ang Tulay Ng San Sebastian”
6) Lem Lorca – “Ned Project”
7) Ice Idanan – “Sakaling Hindi Makarating”
8) Paolo Alessandro Herras – “Buhay Habangbuhay”
9) Frank David Fabros – “Straight from the Heart”
10) JP Habac – “I’m Drunk, I Love You”
Short feature film:
1) Rommel Tolentino – “Aki”
2) Allison Barretto – “XXX”
3) Kenneth Mandrilla – “Punla”
4) Bor Ocampo – “Digpa Ning Alti”
5) John Rhys Guarna – “Katok”
6) Cara Cristina Red – “Luna”

3) Miller Ursolino – “Sila Dino at ang Kanilang Sikreto”
4) Ida Anita Del Mundo – “An Orchestra In Search of a Home”
5) Raquel Zaballero-Sanchez – “Forever Bridgeless”
TV Series (each finalist receives a Php 500,000 grant):
1) Maui Bantigue – “Agham, Inc.”
2) Hannah Espia – “Second Chances”
3) Byron Bryant – “Junakis”
4) Ramon Bayron – “Ang Mga Hugot ni Ella Feelingera”
5) Pamela Reyes – “Case Unknown”
CineFilipino’s competition chair is acclaimed director Jose Javier Reyes. The films will be screened in the cinemas of the Araneta Center group, Robinsons Movieworld, and Resorts World
