
Cinemalaya 2017 announces winners
In a simple ceremony held at the CCP Main Theater last night, the winners of the 13th Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival were announced.
Treb Monteras’ “Respeto” won the best picture award.
Child actor Noel Comia, Jr. bagged the best actor trophy for his heartrending performance of a confused child who wants to be a boxer in Thop Nazareno’s “Kiko Boksingero.”
Urian-award winning actress Angeli Bayani took home the best actress award for her quiet yet powerful performance of an OFW who aborted her baby after she was raped and impregnated by her employer in Zig Dulay’s “Bagahe.”

During the event, the official finalists of Cinemalaya 2018 in the full-length category were also announced.
