DAD, an advocacy film according to Direk Dinky Doo
Since the ghost month of August is soon to come, movie director Dinky Doo, Jr. hopes to have a playdate in September for his “DAD” (Durugin Ang Droga) project.
“Kung makakapasok sa MMFF (Metro Manila Film Festival), why not. Masaya lang ako na natapos namin ng maayos ang isang pelikulang ang adbokasiya eh, makapagpamulat, lalo na sa mga kabataan sa epekto ng droga.”
Direk Dinky got the services of seasoned stars in the movie, with Allen Dizon as the central character.
“Actually, istorya ito ng magbabarkada sa school. At sa pagdaraan ng panahon, nagtahi-tahi o nag-intertwine ang mga buhay nila with one thing in common-ang droga.”
The production has already been bombarded with different kinds of issues and intrigues. But Direk Dinky and his new set of Board of Directors went on with what he has started years ago. With the goal of reaching out to those in the rehabilitation centers and be able to help them spiritually more than physically.
During their pictorial session, with most of his stars present, it was like being thrown back into the 80s.
The matinee idol of his time, Rey ‘PJ’ Abellana; the action star who set to follow in the footsteps of Robin Padilla, Jeric Raval; villain to the leads who had his own share of being a lead actor, Efren Reyes and dropped the Jr.; beauty queen Alma Concepcion; the Soul Siren Nina; Golden Goose 2.12 Rebajas known as “Bunso” to Juday, Jeffrey Santos and tasting life now in the movies -newbies Alicia Montenegro and the Mama’s Boy (in a positive light), L.A. Santos!
Missed during the pictorial were Sharmaine Suarez, Natasha Ledesma and Rennan “Bespren” Morales.
The controversial Jackie Aquino acts as the line-producer to Direk Dinky and the target of jealousy and insecurity of some people.
“I know the good intention of my good friend Direk Dinky. That’s the reason we didn’t leave him when no one else wanted to believe in this project. Whatever they say, it always is the truth which prevails. We know we have a good project to offer our viewers.”
