Daniel Padilla wins Nickelodeon’s Global Slime Star
He may not have made it as Favorite Asian Act at the recently concluded Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards where he was nominated along with other fellow Asian artists such as JKT48 (Indonesia), Jinnyboy (Malaysia) and Tong Zhang (Singapore). Daniel may have lost to JKT48, but Daniel won Nickelodeon’s Global Slime Star as he bested fellow nominees, YouTube sensation Jamie Curry, Brazilian singer Luan Santan, and bands CD9 and Union J World.

There were mechanics for the Global Slime competition. Each nominee has his or her assigned hashtag (Daniel had #SlimeDanielKCA). Twitter users tweeted as many times using the given hashtag and he had received the most number of tweet-votes. The winner will therefore get slimed.
Daniel Padilla braced himself to be messy as he was dumped with the trademark Nickelodeon green slime for the first time. Before receiving his “award”, Daniel thanked his fans for tweeting the hashtag, voting for him and supporting him.
Nickelodeon’s Kids Choice Awards was held last March 28 in Inglewood, California. Nick Jonas hosted the said event.
On her Twitter account, Daniel’s mom, Karla Estrada expressed her gratitude to the fans who voted for her son and even tried to console them because some became upset when Daniel failed to win the Favorite Asian Act Award. She said being nominated alone was such an honor for his son.
