Diego Castro, son of the late Angelo Castro, anchors news over UNTV

Diego Castro (Angelo Diego Castro III ) is one of the latest additions to the growing household of the Kasangbahay network UNTV. He anchors the recently launched English evening program ‘Why News’ every night.
Part si Diego ng Star Circle Batch 1 ng ABS CBN 2 at nakalabas siya sa maraming show sa telebisyon like “Gimik” at “Ezperanza” sa Dos at “TGIS” sa GMA 7. Kakatapos lang niyang lumabas sa “Starwberry Lane” sa Siyete.
“I did enjoy doing those TV shows when I was a bit younger like “Gimik” and some drama shows. ‘Yun lang, talagang nabubulol ako sa Tagalog, eh. Mostly Tagalog ‘yung dialogue. Kaya pag medyo rich boy ako, happy ako to do the role kasi English ang dialogue ko. Alam nyo na, the typical rich kid na burgis…so okey lang ‘yun.” kuwento ni Diego nang makapanayam siya ng Philippine Showbiz Republic (PSR).
Hindi akalain ni Diego na papasok din siya sa landas na tinahak ng kanyang mga magulang, ang mga sikat na TV reporters na sina Angelo Castro Jr at June Keithley-Castro.
Two years ago nang ma-realize ni Diego na kaya rin pala niyang maging newscaster sa TV. Ang head ng UNTV na si Daniel Razon ang nag-encourage kay Diego na maging news anchor.
‘Yun lang, mas at ease si Diego sa pagsasalita ng Ingles kaysa Tagalog kaya naman binigyan siya ng evening news program, ang ‘Why News’ kasama si Gerry Alcantara.na nagsimula na noog February 7 at mapapanood weekdays, 7:30 to 8PM. He is also the resident host and cook sa isang segment ng ‘Good Morning Kuya’.
“Sobrang thankful ako kay sir Daniel for doing that. He really encouraged me. But I told him that he I’m not good in Tagalog so he better give me an English program kung magdi-deliver ako ng news. And that’s it! He gave me the ‘Why News’. Its an English evening news program nga.
“I’m enjoying and I don’t think ito pala ang gusto kong gawin noon pa. This is what I’d like to do like my father, ‘yun nga lang, ibang network ako and i like it. Siyempre, iba naman.” kuwento pa rin ni Diego..
Sa personal na buhay ay engaged si Diego kay Angela Lagunzad. Dating commercial model at ngayon ay radio broadcaster, newscaster at on air content writer for weather and entertainment news.She is also known as nthe Trapik Angel delivering traffic reports for various FM stations. Currently she is a co- anchor of the late afternoon news program ‘Ito Ang Balita’ and co-hosts of the morning show “Good Morning Kuya” with Atty Regie Tongol.
Mayroon silang isang anak na lalake bukod pa sa 3 babaeng anak ni Diego. They plan to get married next year at sabi ni Diego, isang beach wedding daw ito.
“I can say that Angela is the woman na I’d like to be with for the rest of our lives. She’s for me is my forever. We were together for 12 years and now is the right time for us to be husband and wife. For me, she’s the one!,” masayang sabi pa ni Diego.
This time, kailangang mamili si Diego kung babalikan pa niya ang acting. Sey niya..nagsisimula pa lang niya sa news kaya dito muna siya magpo-focus.
