Diego Loyzaga reconciles with his father

Jan 8, 2018

If Kapamilya actor Diego Loyzaga exudes a different aura nowadays, it is because he has found his inner peace. The young actor has already reconciled with his father, Cesar Montano.

In a tete-a-tete, he said the reconciliation happened late last year.

“Nag-usap lang kami. I mean, we eventually came to a point na, iyon nga. Magiging okey rin naman talaga, lilipas din naman ang mga problema.Iyon, lumipas nga, nagkabatian kami ng Happy New Year at Maligayang Pasko. I think it’s already an unspoken thing that past is past. Water under the bridge. He’s still my father and I’m still his son,” he elucidated.

In a spat he had with his father, he said that he learned a lot.

“A lot. It showed me how much and how important a father sa buhay ng isang anak whether babae o lalake. So I guess, I learned the value of my parents more noong nangyari ang iyong incident,” he said.

Moreover, he said he did not regret what he had done in the past.

“Never akong nagsisisi sa ginawa ko. We all learn from what we do. Kung hindi nangyari iyon, di ako matututo,” he said.

“I think, things are better now,” he added.

He also averred that after the reconciliation, he felt relieved.

“I think I’m a new person. Pakiramdam ko, ang gaan-gaan,” he quipped.

However, he denied that like his father, he’s a ‘chickboy’ and a womanizer.

“Bakit? Porke’t anak, whatever the mom or dad did, may reflection na sa anak?,” he pointed out.

“I think I got the good out of my mom and the good out of my dad,” he added.

Regarding the allegations on the anomalies of his father in the Tourism Board which he currently heads, Diego gave his piece of mind.

“I don’t really know much about our Philippine politics.Hindi ko po alam ang isyung iyon. Kung ano ang man ang allegations na iyon, I’m sure my Dad can clear it out. Siguro naman ako na makaklaro ng tatay kung anuman iyon,” he declared.

Up to now, Diego also does not want to confirm nor deny his relationship with rumoured girlfriend Sofia Andres.

“I don’t want to put a label on it. I think, labels are overrated,” he stated.

“Pero, I know for sure, walang ni isang tao sa buong mundo na mas kilala si Sofia Andres , ako lang iyon. I’m the only person in this whole world who knows Sofia this much and I can say the same for her. She knows me that much,” he added.

He also denied that he got involved romantically with Maris Racal.

“It’s not true. Gawa-gawa lang iyon ng ibang tao. Maris, Sofia , Inigo and I are friends,” he clarified.

He also cleared out his name on the allegations that he got ‘physical’ with Sofia.

“Alam mo ba iyong pinagsamahan namin ni Sofia in three years, grabe na. Hindi ko naman siya binabatukan. Ganito lang naman iyon. Ganoon lang, in a loving way. Pag close ka sa isang tao, even the way you talk to the person, nag-iiba. Of course not, na binabatukan ko siya. walang malisya. I don’t mean to be disrespectful with any gesture of endearment. I guess no one else could understand what’s going on between Sofia and I, kundi kaming dalawa lang,” he explained.

He also spoke on the issue of his naked photo that was posted on his social media account that went viral and was later deleted.

“It was an accident at hindi ko siya ginawa para mambastos o maka-offend,” he said.

Raised in Australia, he’s also proud of his liberal views on things.

He also said that he sees nothing wrong in observing some European traditions when in a foreign land.

“It’s actually part of my IG story at makikita mo iyon sa blog ko. In Sweden , as in other European countries, it’s no big deal. Bucket list ko talaga na makita iyong snow and people there run naked in the snow. My mom and I even took a video of it when we were there. So, it’s really no big deal,” he declared.

As an actor, he said that he’s also open to bare and show some skin if his role requires him to do so.

He also unabashedly admitted that he’s a Mama’s boy.

“Yes. Oo naman. Sobrang Mama’s boy ako. Mahal na mahal ko ang nanay ko. I don’t think that, hindi ko maiintindihan iyong concept ng pagmamahal ng isang nanay sa kanyang anak. Grabe talaga. Iba talaga ang pagmamahal ng isang ina sa isang anak. I know very well how important it is to bond with your mother and I am proud to be a Mama’s boy,” he asseverated.

As a millennial, he also believes the concept of a Mama’s boy or girl is evolving. He also doesn’t see it as a threat to his machismo.

“Para sa akin, wala, pero, I’ve heard na pag Mama’s boy ang isang lalake, natu-turn off ang ang babae pag sobrang attached iyong mother and son. Pero, I can answer for all of us, walang negative kung Mama’s boy o Mama’s girl ang isang tao,” he concluded.

From Regal Entertainment, the original home of quality Pinoy entertainment, “Mama’s Girl” is the first movie team-up of Sofia Andres and Diego Loyzaga.

Also in the cast are Sylvia Sanchez, Jameson Blake, Alora Sasam, Karen Reyes at Yana Asistio.
