Dulce returns to acting
Timeless Diva Dulce returns to acting via “Kamunggai” (Malunggay), an entry to the 2nd Tofarm Filmfest.
“Basically, singer talaga ako pero noong i-offer sa akin iyong role, nasabi ko, kaya naman pala kasi noong nag-usap kami ni Direk Vic, nalaman ko na it’s a regional movie. I’ll be speaking in my native tongue which is Bisaya, so hindi na ako masyadong mahihirapan,” she says.
It is also her first time to work with co-singer Bayang Barrios in a project.
“First time ko ring naka-work si Bayang (Barrios). I play a kapitana here while Bayang is a vendor na nagtitinda ng gulay. She is the friend of the mom of the lead actor here played by the young boy Kent (Raymond Basa) who’s a revelation here,” she asserts.
The title of the movie refers to a popular plant ‘moringa’ scientific name) which is known for its high nutritional value as well as a herbal medicine.
“It’s actually a metaphor pero ipakikita rin siya sa pelikula. I myself, I can attest to the health benefits of malunggay dahil kinakain ko siya and I take it as a supplement,” she concludes.
“Kamunggai” is a story of government retiree who tends a simple vegetable patch whose quiet life is disturbed by opportunistic villagers that turns his life around.
