El Gamma Penumbra wins ‘Asia’s Got Talent

Filipinos around the world are rejoicing after the all-Filipino shadow dance group ‘El Gamma Penumbra’ was named “Asia’s Got Talent” first grand champion. As the talent search show’s season ender aired Thursday night (May 14) from the Marina Bay Sands, El Gamma Penumbra was announced as the grand winner. The group bested Mongolia’s ethnic band Khusugtun.
“Asia’s Got Talent is a highlight in our career. Not only to our career but [in] our lives,” said one of the group’s members. El Gamma Penumbra brings home a whopping US$100,000 and a chance to perform at Marina Bay Sands in Singapore.
Some of the artists who performed at the night of the announcement were Charice Pempengco and “Australia’s Got Talent” winner grand illusionist Constantino.
The show’s judges David Foster, Anggun, Van Ness Wu, and Melanie C also prepared a special cover of the song “Let’s Groove,” which will be available for download. The proceeds of the downloads will go to earthquake victims in Nepal.
